chapter 23:
Adam and I were still alone at his house.
We were sitting near each other on the couch still.
"Do you wanna watch a movie?" He asked interrupting the boring show we were watching.
"Sure." I smiled.
"Pick one." He smiled back, pointing to a book case.
But there weren't any books.
The case was filled with movies all the way from disney movies to 
horror films.
"What don't you have?" I said sarcastically.
"Welcome to your personal theater, I guess. We have everything." He laughed.
I got up next to the bookcase.
I didn't know where to start.
Cute disney princess movie for him to flirtaciously make fun of me?
Horror film for him to be able to comfort me?
Or maybe a cute romance to cuddle too?
I was wishfully thinking.
"Did you pick one?" He came over to me, wrapping his arms around my waist.
I was too busy trying to control the butterflies going free
around my stomach.
He looked at me waiting for an answer.
"Ummm.... I'm not sure."
I tried to concentrate on picking a movie, rather than
wanting to just turn around and kiss him again.
He removed one hand from around me and reached for a movie.
"This was always my favorite." He smiled, holding one of the disney movies.
My face lit up as I read the title.
"Do you like this one?" He asked.
"It's my favorite." I smiled.
He opened up the case, putting in the movie.
And on the screen came my favorite movie, Aladdin.
The movie started.
Adam clapped, and the lights faded.
I looked at him in jealousy, and amuzement.
He smirked.
Show off.
I laughed at myself.
Adam and I were sitting about 3 inches apart.
He slowly scooted closer, until I felt his warm body once
again against mine.
He yawned, like in movies, and put his arm around me.
I looked at him with a cute smile,
and he kissed my cheek.
This day, this moment, everything, was perfect.
A few minutes into the movie, 
my phone vibrated.
I thought it was a text so I blew it off.
It kept going, but I ignored it.
"I think someones calling you." He sarcastically remarked.
I reached into my pocket, taking out my phone.
It was my mom.
"Hello?" I picked up.
"Scarlet." She said seriously.
"Yes?"
"We need you here."
"W-why?"
"We just need you. We have to talk to you."
"I'm at Adam's." I lowered my voice to a whisper. "It would be rude to leave."
"Scarlet, please. It's important."
There was sadness in her shaky voice.
"How will I get there?"
"Your dad is coming to pick you up, ok?" 
"Ok."
She hung up.
"Who was that?" Adam asked.
"My mom." I said looking at my phone.
"What did she want?"
"She needs me at the hospital."
I looked at him turning pale.
The doorbell rang, and I saw my dad through the window on the door.
"Apparently he left before she called." I laughed.
"Ok, well let me know what they say."
He gave me a quick kiss on the cheek and I got up and out the door,
meeting my pale, silent father outside.
