I awoke to the
sunlight beaming through my window. I knew I was in South Carolina.
I rolled down my window, as the wind blew through my wavy, dark
chocolate hair. The
taxi driver said “Miss, we’re in
Bluffton.” I was shocked by how
gorgeous it was! I saw a small dinner out of the corner of my eye
with a sign in the window that stated “Help
Wanted!” I asked the taxi
driver to stop there. I handed him 200 dollars. I had about 300
left, which wouldn’t do me very well. Working at the dinner
could help me get more money. I walked in the
diner, as I entered I got a few stares & a few whispers. I
walked up to one of the waitresses. I asked “May I
talk to the boss, I would like to apply for the waitress
job”. She walked away and
came back with someone named Connie. I guessed she was the
boss. Connie said
“Jackie, said you wanted to apply for the
job”. I simply just
nodded. “We’re
going to have to see how you do” Connie stated handing me a
notepad & pen. She pointed to the guy at the end of the corner.
I walked over putting my tote bag under the
counter.
