The Boyfriend Plan:
Chapter Three: Charlotte's POV: Part
5:
“And this one,” he
gestures to a red acoustic guitar, “was signed by John
Lennon, the lead singer of the Beatles.”
“You’re lying,” I scoff and get up to see that
it’s true, it really is. “Whoa, how’d you get
that?”
He smiles, “Seven hours a day at my dad’s restaurant
as a waiter, and then a night of making higher bids on
EBay.”
“Which restaurant does your dad work at?” I ask
him.
“Petras, the Greek restaurant on Woodward. Across from your
family’s restaurant.” I stare at him in surprise, but
he answers for me. “Your friend Adam told me you worked
there and I figured you were part of the family. I went to high
school with your brother, Conor. You look like him.”
I laugh at this, “I look like all my siblings, all six of
them.”
“I’m from a family of nine,” he one ups me and
I smile.
“So, do you play guitar?” I ask picking one up.
“I’d love to hear you play.” He takes the one
from my hand and strums a few chords until I recognized it. It
was Imagine by John Lennon, my dad used to sing it to me before
me when I went to bed. He kept singing and I sang along with him.
We sat on the bed as he kept singing my favorite song.
I closed my eyes, smiling as he sang the last lines of the song,
“You may say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the
only one. Someday you’ll join us, and the world will be as
one.”
“I love that song,” I finally say, “my dad used
to sing it to me before he tucked me in. You’re really
good.”
He smiles, “You too. We should try out for Glee.” We
laugh as he sets down the guitar and he leans in.
“You’re different, aren’t you?”
I shrug, “I guess I am. Who’s the same?” He
chuckles and puts his smooth hand to my face, and just like that,
my first kiss happened. His lips were soft and fit easily with
mine, and we could feel each other smile as we pulled away and
went back in. I’m the first one to leave the kiss and I can
feel his disappointment.
“What time is it?” I ask him, and he checks his
clock.
“It’s 9, why?”
I sigh, “Because I came here straight from work, and I
still have homework to do. And better yet, my friend drove me
here and doesn’t have to be home till midnight.”
“I could drive you home,” he offered.
“Really?” I ask him, lighting up to the idea of it.
“Well, if you want to, I guess you can. Adam can drive me,
if you don’t want to.”
He shook his head in disagreement, “Oh, I want to.
Let’s go.” He took my hand and lead me down the
stairs where I was greeted by Adam and some girl making out.
“Adam,” I say hitting his arm. “I’m going
home, I’m getting a ride from a friend.” He pulls
away from the girl and she pouts glaring evilly at me.
“You sure? I could drive you home.”
“I’ve got it, I’m taking her home,” Jake
tells him, and I can see the anger and surprise in his eyes.
“What the hell are you doing here?” he spat at
Jake.
“You mean, what the hell am I doing leaving my own house?
Taking this girl home so some perv that’s drunk
doesn’t hit on her.”
Adam laughs, “Huh, sounds like you on weekends.” They
glare at each other for a second before I cut in.
“Jake, let’s go,” I say, but Adam takes my arm
and looks at me worried.
“I can take you home, Charlotte. Let’s go,” he
says taking my arm and pulling me outside.
“Dude,” Jake steps in front of him,
“don’t pull a girl. If you want to stay here longer,
I’d be more than happy to take her home.”
He shoots him a look, “I bet you would, so you can get a
better chance of hooking up with her later.”
“You’re calling me the player? I heard you have a new
girlfriend every day. Don’t get overprotective about a girl
that you’re not even with.” And in those two seconds
that Jake defended himself, him and Adam got into a fist fight. A
bad fist fight.
“Stop! Stop please!” I screamed at them, but they
couldn’t hear me. I wedged myself in between them and
pushed Adam away. But once I got him far enough, he pushed me
onto the ground. I fell to the grass with a huge thud and closed
my eyes in pain. I didn’t feel anyone move around me until
Jake ran up to me and pulled me off the ground and into his
arms.
“Charlotte, are you okay?” he whispered in my ear,
moving the hair away from my face. I nodded as he set me back
down on my two feet.
“Charlotte, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean, I
didn’t know, I wasn’t myself-”
“Adam,” I stop him, “just forget it. I’ll
talk to you in first hour.”
Jake ended up driving me home that night, where I kissed him on
the cheek where there was a bruise from Adam’s fist.
“I’m really sorry,” I told him for the fifth
time before getting out of the car.
“For what? That your friend was being a jerk to me?
I’m fine.”
I stare at him incredulously, “He punched you across the
face.”
“Nothing that can’t be cured with a frozen
steak,” he jokes and I can’t help but smile.
“See you around?” I nod and hop out of the car, going
into the house and into my room where I do 3 hours worth of
homework before going to bed at midnight.
This was going to be a long night.
Sorry it's so long! Like? Hate?
