My friend had the same problem. A teacher read a note between us that had stuff about cutting in it. The guidance counselor told her parents, and she was in a lot of trouble. They just yelled at her. Then, in an art class she was tapping her pencil on her hand, trying to think. And the teacher like told the guidance counselor she was trying to hurt herself with it. I was so madd.

go to a teacher/school staff member that u can legit TRUST WITH YOUR LIFE. you can talk to them and like @BeYondLyes said, they sign a confidentiality contract. i dont speak to councilors because they are EVIL!

haha, yeah i would love too;) I really just don't know what to say to her though? she said to me 'i'm going to tell mrs...' + i was like, hold on a minute, I know she's someone who helps people too, but i don't remember giving you permission to do that? I wish I'd said that. But I really don't have the guts:/

No, that doesn't make it right at all. It should be your decision to tell your mom or not to, and she shouldn't force you to do anything. In addition, telling the other teachers is just plain mean. It's your business and if you wanted them to know, you would have told them yourself. I think you should write her a strongly-worded letter.

well that's the thing, she's not exactly a counselor so i don't know weather she has signed anything. She's just someone in school who helps people with their problems and talks about them but at the same time it doesn't make it right that she's literally forcing me to tell my mum if i don't want to, does it?

The counselor has to sign a contract that says she must keep all information confidential. Call her out on her crap, and tell a friend's mom or an adult you trust and they can help you.

She shouldn't do that. In my school sessions with the counsler are kept between the student and the counsler
