Chapter 4
Another couple days past. I was slowly moving on from
Devin. Fortunately, he stopped calling and texting me- I
had no intentions to listening to his bullcrap. It was around
12pm, and
I was sitting on my bed staring at the ceiling. I swung my legs
off my bed and walked downstairs, and out the back door. I sighed
as I sat on the small yellow swing in out backyard. I don't
even know why we kept it when we moved in. It rarely got
used.
"Marisa?" I jumped
alittle
when i heard someone was near me. I took a sharp breath and
looked up. Hunter was sitting on the platform to the slide, a
notebook on his lap. Amusement lit up his blue eyes at my
reaction, knowing he scared me.
"O-Oh, hi Hunter.." I stuttered,
"What are you doing here?"
Hunter looked down at his notebook and back at me.
"Uh..you knoww..nothing." He said, blushing
slightly. I stood and climbed up the slide next to him before
answering.
"What's the notebook for?" I said curiously.
Trying to catch a glimpse of the messy scribbles on the paper. He
pulled the notebook up so i couldnt see it.
"Nothing..Just random stuff." He said, looking
at me like there was a huge secret on the paper.
"Lemme see it!" I smiled, reaching out to take
it from him. He picked it up over his head so i couldn't
reach it again. I smirked alittle and held my face close to his.
He looked at me with confusion. I playfully poked his side, and
as i expected, Hunter dropped his hand to move mine. I grabbed
the notebook from his hand and quickly slid down the
slide.
"Hey!" Hunter chuckled, scrambling to slide down
behind me. I ran as fast as I could across my backyard, which was
a good size. I stopped when I thought I was safe, out of breath.
I scanned over Hunter's writing- he doesn't have the best
penmanship. I realized it was a song, the one he was singing in
his room the other day.
"Marisa!!" I heard Hunter yell from behind
me. I turned around too see Hunter running at me full speed. I
yelped in surprise and spun around so my back faced him, and bent
over the notebook. Hunter ran behind me and wrapped his arms
around my shoulders, his hands scrambling to steal the notebook
from me.
"Let me read it!!" I giggled.
"Noo, turn around!" He chuckled. He must not be
too worried, because he's laughing. I curled closer
into myself and Hunter sighed, letting go of me. I stood straight
and fixed my hair.
"Thank you." I smiled triumphantly. As I began
to read the notebook again Hunter picked me up by my waist and
lowered me to the grass. I squirmed under him as he tried to take
the notebook again. Hunter smirked, putting his hands on my waist
and squeezed my sides. I screamed and threw the notebook to
my side, hoping he would stop.
"Here here!! Take itt!!" I said between laughs.
Hunter stepped off me and picked up the blue notebook, then
taking my hand to help me up.
"You're no fun." I giggled, pushing his
shoulder.
"I remember I always had to do that to make you do
things for me." He said, a smile tugging at the corner of
his lips.
"You remember all that?" I said, my eyes
widening in surprise.
He looked at me, puzzled.
"Of course I do. I loved you,
remember?"
