Spooked
Chapter Three

We rode our bikes home and told my mom the news. "What??" She freaked. "Yeah.. Now I have nowhere to stay..." Sophie sobbed as she sat on the couch. I looked at mom who nodded, then sat down next to Sophie. "Well.... I guess.... I CALL THE TOP BUNK!" I screamed as I ran around the living room. Sophie's face lit up as she looked at us with tears in her eyes. "Y...You mean it? I can live with you guys?" She asked, astounded. "Of course!! You're family!!" Mom and I said. Sophie ran up to us and gave us the hugs of our lives. "I don't know what I'd do without you guys..." She smiled. I don't think I've ever seen her this happy. We ran upstairs to check on Ellen, who had been jumping rope. "Hi!" We said, cheerily. "How are you two NOT upset about the fire...?" Ellen questioned with an amazingly large amount of curiosity. "Sophie's gonna be staying with us now!!" I squealed as I shoved some popcorn into the microwave. "I still don't understand how you got that microwave up in your room.... And don't even get me started about the FRIDGE..." Sophie laughed. I grabbed some sodas and the three of us started chatting. We were getting to know a lot about Ellen and I could tell she was really interested in us. We were talking about Hershey's chocolate when we heard a loud yell and a crash in the attic. "What was that?!" Sophie shuddered. I grabbed my flashlight and ladder as I headed out to the hall where the attic was. "I don't know, but let's find out!!" I chirped. Ellen skipped towards the opening when a ghost fell right to our feet. He looked at us, stood up, and stared. He was tall. Like, REALLY tall. Then again, I was 4'8". He had long black hair, was really skinny, and had amazingly green eyes that I couldn't take my eyes off of. And the best part, he was 14. "Uh..." He stuttered. "What. Just. Happened?" Sophie asked. "S..Sorry about that... I, uh.... was cleaning... Oh, I'm James, by the way." He said, looking down at the floor. "Pleasure..." I mumbled. Ellen and Sophie started cracking up. I could feel my face getting hot. "WELL then. Can we come up?" Sophie asked. James looked at all three of us in shock. I don't think he knew this house had actual humans. Not to mention a fellow ghost. "Uh.. Sure... It's kinda dark up there though... One of the lights burnt out." He warned. We went upstairs to see an AMAZING room. "This? Dark?" Ellen questioned, a little confused. "This place is amazing... Who would have known the best place in the house was the least known place known to mankind?!" Sophie wondered. I couldn't speak. My legs were getting heavy as I sat down. What was going on? This wasn't just any coincedence...
