she is up before dawn
exited to leave
she puts on her makeup
and rolls up her sleeves.

she exits the car
she enters the dance
with one fateful look
she is now in a trance.

the turns and she runs
then she slams the door
she sprints outside
and sprawls across the floor

the lies there forever
wipes her mascara stained eyes,
and she covers her mouth
to muffle her cries.

she chips at her manicure
she rips at her dress
her beautiful hair
is now a mess.
