The Story of Us
#2- how we met and the sparks flew
instantly
Every girl turned and stared at the
twins.
They knew these boys?!
"Sorry, Matt, but we're having 'team bonding
time'" Sam replied, quoting our coach.
"It's cool. See you on the field?"
"Of course," Molly said.
"Great." He turned and looked at us. "Bye, ladies.
Play well tomorrow," he winked.
After the boys left, Molly explained that Matt, the boy who had
spoken, and John, the taller, more muscular of the two, went to
their school. THe girls were good friends with them and expected
them to find us again.
By that time, it was dark and the pool and hot tubs were closing.
We decided to go mini golfing and hitting up some shops after we
changed. When we got back, it was around 2 AM; our usual curfew
on game nights is 12..oops. We snuck past our coach's room
and slipped into our separate rooms.

The sun beat down on my back. I could feel myself sweating. This
was the worst kind of game. Low defense saw no action because
attack rarely lost possession. The few times the ball came my
way, it was all too easy to guard my girl and force a turn over.
We won the game easily and it was soon time to relax. Most of the
team went to the vendors, but Liz, Molly, Dana, and I stayed at
the tent to eat lunch. It didn't take long for the boys from
yesterday to find us. I couldn't remember their names for the
life of me. The cuter of the two-the one with green eyes-looked
at me for the longest time. I never looked at him, but I saw him
from the corner of my eye.
"You guys can sit down," Molly said. The one who was
staring at me made his way over. He sat down on the open space on
the cooler I was seated on. Everyone broke into side
conversations and it was the most awkward moment of my life.
Eventually, he said, "So, are you like mute? or just
shy?"
