chapter thirty.
It was the boy who had helped me up after my
fall yesterday, hm, so much for never seeing him again. He smiled, showing a row of
perfect white teeth and said, “Uhh, I’m supposed to sit
here.” He gestured to my purse and
books on his chair. I said, “Oh, I’m
sorry.” “That’s okay.”
He said it with that amazing British accent. I think every guy with
an accent is ten times more attractive. But then again other things
factor in if I like a guy or not; not just a look. I blushed and pushed my bangs
out of my eyes. He smiles. “It’s good to see you
again.” He gives a small laugh and
continues, “Fall on any stairs when I was
gone?” I laughed and said, “I
fell out of bed, if that counts.” He extends his hand,
“I’m Logan.” I stare at his hand for a moment and
if it wasn’t for Hunter kicking my chair, I would’ve
stared at it for a while. I quickly re- focused and shook
it saying, “I’m Calli.” “Nice to meet you,
Calli,” replied Logan, hearing that British accent; now
that’s pretty sexy. He gave my hand a quick squeeze before
letting it go. I reply back, “Likewise,
uhh, this is Hunter.” Logan looked at Hunter and his smile
dims. I could practically read the look on his face, great I
meet this hot girl and I find that I have
competition. Hunter reading his face as
well, grinned and said, “Nice to meet you.” Logan said
rather stiffly, “Yeah same here.”
I pushed my purse under my chair and pretended to be writing
something down in my planner. Logan goes, “Soo,
what’s fun around here in California?” I gave him a funny look; looks
like someone’s trying to keep this conversation alive. I
said, “Well we usually hang around the beach. And Hunter here
does wrestling and I do track and cross country. So there’s
plenty to do.” I looked at him and said, “You
don’t look like you’re the beach kind of guy
though.” He laughed and said,
“Yeah, my skin isn’t the best for the sun and my style
isn’t really beachy.” He was eyeing my outfit and my
tan as if to prove his point. The way he looked at me wasn’t
the way Garth or Hunter looked at me, it was something totally
different. It gave me shivers. I looked at his white Volcom t-
shirt and shorts. I just shrugged and turned around to talk to
Hunter.
Hunter looked at me and was about to say something but was
interrupted by the first period bell.
Logan’s locker ended up being next to mine. I really have to
admit, he really is hot. But it’s not just that, he’s
just different. There’s just something about him that draws
me nearer him. As I was putting my books
back into my locker, Hunter walks up and leans on the wall, waiting
for me. My locker is the end locker so I have extra room. Logan
whispers to me, “I think Hunter likes you.” I laugh nervously and say,
“Well I guess that’s good because after all we are
together.” I shut my locker and Logan exclaims, “Oh! I
didn’t know.” I laugh and say, “Well,
it’s not your fault, you are new. And I don’t mean that
in a bitchy way, too.” After that I turn and walk with
Hunter. He puts his arm around me and I can feel Logan’s eyes
on me. Hunter whispers to me, “He likes you, you
know.” I look at the floor and say,
“I know.” Hunter stops and I stop, too.
“I have to tell you something really important,” he
looked at me to see if I’m following, so I just nod.
“Remember the day in my backyard and the pink sky?” I
nod again, without saying a word. He continues, “Well, I
found a way to say it.”
