Untitled 3-

I kept crying for what seemed like hours and I finally realized that this stranger boy probably didn't want to sit here while some psycho girl cried and got salty tear stains all over him.

He had his arm around my shoulders, so I pulled back and said, "Sorry."

                 "For what?" he wondered.

"For taking up your time, for making you sit here, for your shirt.." I said, pointing to the wet stains all over his shirt.

"Hey," he said softly, "don't worry about it. Really." We looked into each other's eyes for a few seconds before he said, "Come on. Let's get you home."

As we got up, I hesitated. "Uhm, I live in East New York."

His eyes bugged out of his head, "We're in Brooklyn Heights!"

"I know! I know! Sorry.." I said in a low voice.

"Good thing I've got a car," he said, smiling.

"Oh thank god." I said, relieved.

"We're just gonna have to walk a little while back to go get it. We would've been closer if you didn't take off on me!" I laughed.

He smiled, grabbed my hand, and we started walking. The silence was nice, but after a while my curiosity got the best of me.

I cleared my throat, I felt him look at me, but I kept my eyes on the ground.

"So, uhm, why were you crying earlier?"

"Oh. Uhm, my girlfriend. She broke up with me." he said, staring straight ahead, his voice cracking.

"Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry," I sympathized, squeezing his hand a little, "How long were you guys together?"

                 "Three years."

                  "Wow."

                  "What about you?"

                   I was confused, "What?"

"You got a boyfriend? Yeah I bet, girls like you, they always have boyfriends."

"Girls like me? Girls that are found walking home at 3 in the morning, with hardly any clothes on, in the freezing cold? Girls that take off when someone is concerned about her and then sobs in some strangers lap? Yeah, I'm a real catch."

                   "Jeez."

                   "What?!"

"That's the most you've said this whole time." I smiled.

                     "Hey, uhm, what's your name?"

"Wow, you think we would've gotten by the whole name thing a while back. I'm Anya, you?"

                     "Ian."

                     "Different name."

"Yours too." I said, and we smiled at each other.
