To The
Daughter I'll Have Someday;
I know you may be too young to understand,
but there is no age for love. That boy in your kindergarten class
who steals your cookies and pulls your hair? That little boy has
a crush on you. You hate him for it. He has cooties & germs.
You want nothing to do with him. But one day, you two will grow
up. That boy will become a young man, you'll become a young
woman. You will mature, but he will learn to disguise it. Since
there's no cookies left to steal, he will take something
else. That something else is your heart. And once he has it,
he's not giving it back. And I know that even when you're
fifteen, I will hate to see you cry. So before the cookie days
are over, put your guard up. Don't let him pull your hair.
Don't let him eat your snacks. Because one day, it could be
your heart.
Love, your
"been there-dont that"
mother.
