Makeover

We sat down and ordered and ate while watching the other
performers. There were some others that were really good, and of
course there were some that were so bad you want to cover your
ears but you clap any way because you feel bad for the poor kid.
But no matter how good the other performers were it just seemed
like no one was clapping or cheering as hard for anyone else as
they did for me. I know that sounds conceited but it just seemed
that way. A bunch of waitresses and other people who had seen me
sing came over to me and complimented me. By the time we had all
finished dessert I was fully convinced that I really was a good
singer. Just as we got the check the host proclaimed that there
were no more contestants and it was time to choose a winner.
“Winner?” There was going to be a winner? Everyone
shrugged, even Adam seemed confused.
“The third place winner is… Sam Brown!”
Everyone clapped and a young guy walked up to the stage and
collected what looked like a gift card.
“In second place there is… Grace Darrin!” A
girl a bit younger than me walked up and also got a gift
card.
“And finally, the first place winner is… Snow
Sparks!” I jumped up smiling and hugged Adam. Then I ran up
to the stage. Everyone was clapping. He host gave me a $100 gift
card to Dunkin’ Donuts, yay! I stood on stage with the
other winners smiling and blushing and waving and I even blew a
kiss at Adam. I was in such a good mood. We were leaving when the
girl who was in second place came up to me.
