"Fine!!" I yelled, storming up the stairs to my
room. My mom had grounded me because I had gotten a 'bad' grade on
a science test. Yes, I
only got an 85%. Nothing less than
perfect for mother dearest.
"And stay there until the morning," I heard mom's voice
come through my door; yes, the door that I had slammed not more
than a moment ago.
I was getting so sick of my mom's ways. She thought she needed to
raise the
perfect family ever since my dad took
off. It was more than a decade ago, and she obviously wasn't
healed. the way he took off wasn't 'accepted' into our community,
and my mom wanted to make us a perfect family. Maybe perfect in her
eyes. But in terms of perfect, my secret was just that. No one
knew. Not my friends, not my brother, and most certainly not my
girlfriend. And I planned on keeping it that way as long as
possible.
As I said before, I have a brother and a mom. Great friends at
school, a mix of guys and girls. And an amazing girlfriend, who
deserved so much more than me. My name's Braiden. My mom's is May,
my brother's is Mason. My girlfriends name is Charlie (short for
Charlotte), and my best guy friend's name is Kyle. My mom, brother,
and I live in a nice little house in a small town in New
Hampshire, called Greenland. I am a freshman at Portsmouth High
School, or PHS. My brother is also a freshman, as we're twins. We
had two completely different groups of friends, but they blended
together pretty smoothly when we hung out together.
I had finally had it with my mom. She had been on my last nerve,
and this just pushed me off the edge.
"You want to know why my gades have been slipping, why I
haven't been talking as much? Well, I have a huge problem in my
life, and I can't tell you because you'll hate me for it!" I
was now screaming, on the verge of tears.
"Then talk to me! You know you can tell me
anything!!"
"I'm gay! Are you happy now? Now you know every little detail
about my life!!" My mom was holding her
breath, tears streaming down her face.
"How
could you do this to me!! How could you tell me this, and
ruin everything? GET OUT!!!"
That
was all I needed to hear. I grabbed my backpack, threw some
clothes into a duffle bag and grabbed the keys.
