The Right One
Chapter One... comment please (:
I guess you can say I'm the type of girl that is a non-believer. In love that is. I've watched relationships crumble around me for my whole life, and never have I seen true love. My parents got divorced when I was only five years old. Yea only five I know, it's crazy. Ever since then I've lived with my mother, who gets her heart broken every other day. I've been there to watch every guy she thinks shes falling for, rip her heart out and smash into a million pieces. And every time, I've been there to pick up her heart and stitch it back together again. So love you may ask? Is not real. Never has been and never will be.
I'm Macie by the way. Macie Carter. I've lived with my mom for eleven years now and I am now the big sixteen years old. So exciting I know. Well, I'm sure you've realized that I don't believe in love. And with not believing you must think I am some cold- heartless girl that has never had a boyfriend and stays home every friday night reading my school textbooks. Well let me tell you something, I'm not. I am in fact the complete opposite. I have had too many boyfriends to count, and every friday night I spend at my oh so fun job, at the pizza shack. Sure I've had my fair share of boyfriends, but when it comes to the time that they think they are falling in love with me I have no other choice but to end it. I try not to get attached, scratch that. I never get attached.
"Macie, sweetie can you come here," my mom blurted from the other room. I wander over to her to see papers spread across the table with scissors our and glitter sprinkled on the floor.
"Mom, what did you do?" I ask.
"Oh this? I just decided I would pick up scrapbooking. You see we have so many pictures and what not. I needed a hobby okay?" my mom had been hopeless since her last boyfriend, Greg, dumped her. She results to things such as baking and redecorating, and in this case scrapbooking to help her cope.
"Ah, I see. Uh very nice. But, what did you need from me?" I try not to sound to irritated.
"Oh yes. Your boss called from the shack. He wanted to uh let you know that theres a new trainee coming tonight, and you are responsible to train him," she had to be kidding. I was probably the worst person in the world to train a new employee. I could barely handle my job to make pizzas and now I'd have to teach someone?!
"Oh how lovely," I replied trying to sound enthusiastic, "I should probably get off to work now." I gave my mom a quick peck on the cheek and scurried out the door.
I had just enough time to check my phone before I arrived at the pizza shack.
2 New Messages read my phone. I slapped open the screen to read them both.
Maddie- Hey Macie (: girls night out tonight? Maddie was one of my best friends and the thought of going out with her tonight was just what I needed. Before I could read the second message something hit me from behind and I lost my balance. I turned around to see a tall dark haired guy staring down at me with crystal blue eyes.
"Oh my god! I am so sorry, uh let me help you up" I quickly got out of my daze to realize he was the jerk to knock me over in the first place.
"I'm fine. Really I can get up on my own." I answered, and I got up without his assistance.
"I'm really sorry, I'm just in a rush and all. Can I make it up to you?" he offered with a smile on his face. There it was again, that look. His eyes just caught onto me and reeled me in, I felt like I couldn't control myself for a second.
"No it's fine. I have to go." I said as I quickly walked into the shack trying to erase his beautiful, perfect smile from my memory.
"Macie, did you get my phone call?" my boss asked as she rushed up to me the second I got into the shack.
"Yea. New trainee got it," I replied. The shack looked awfully busy, which meant I would have no extra time to train anyone. Perfect.
"Okay he should be here any second," she paused, "Oh, there he is." I stood there in disbelief as I watched her pointing to the guy I had just met outside, who turned out to be my new trainee.
