With or Without you.
I woke up on a little couch on the office. The woman who 'rescued' me, was at my side, typing away on her laptop. She noticed a little bit of movement from the corner of her eye, and she turned to stare at me. I stared back.
"You're awake." she smiled a little. "If you're wondering, you aren't in a hospital because the nurse told us we should let you sleep until you wake up... Then see if the pain is still there. Is the pain gone?"
"I guess, I just have a tiny headache. Can I go back to class?" I sat up and pressed my hand on my forehead.
"Sure, just try not to focus on all the attention you'll be getting, unless you like that." she opened the door to the office and Mason was sitting there with his head down. I jumped onto him and he caught me, on surprise.
"You're okay! Do you get how worried I was? Baby, I broke my promise, I'm so sorry." he stuttered a little.
"Hey, stop worrying. I'm okay. Now let's go to class." I squeezed his hand, and pulled him in the direction of class. He took out his schedule and pointed in the direction. I walked into the class first, stopping a little to see all of the eyes on me. I shrugged, smiled a tiny bit, and took a seat. Mason followed, looking hot as usual, with all of the girls' eyes on him. He only focused on mine. It made me feel so much better.
"So, class, pay attention." the teacher hit the board and pointed to a list of rules.
1) NO touching in a possessive way.
2) Includes NO hitting, no kicking, no throwing objects at a person.
3) Talk when you're aloud, or when the teacher isn't talking.
4) Walk in, be quiet, and do whatever is on the board.
5) Ignore these rules and make up your own with your partner.
A bunch of kids giggled and turned to their partner, as our teacher sat as his desk, smiling. Mason took my hand and turned to me.
"Screw the rules, I play dirty." Mason winked, and a girl behind us laughed out loud. We turned around to see a girl with braces, glasses and long straight hair.
"Sorry, it was funny." her voice was innocent, and she was sitting alone.
"No, don't worry. Want to work with us?" I asked.
"No, I'm done. Thanks for asking though!" she smiled and put her head down. Mason shrugged and wrote something on a piece of paper.
"There's only one rule that I go by..." he handed me the paper, and I unfolded it.
-Never stop loving Gracie.
I smiled and kissed him on the cheek. A girl sitting across the room said "aw" really obnoxiously and I turned to see a blonde girl with a pink Juicy Sweat-suit on, and bright blue eyes. She had on tons of makeup and obviously was the popular girl. I gave her a dirty look, and turned around.
"What? Daddy didn't hit you hard enough to knock some sense into you?" she said when my head was fully turned. I spun around and glared at her. A group of people chuckled.
"What? Daddy didn't buy you the store Abercrombie yesterday, so you're in a bad mood?" the class laughed now.
"Oh shut up, at least my dad has the money to buy it."
"Well, I don't live with my dad, and I have my own money. Women have the rights to work you know, or were you lost in your closet when that happened?"
"You know what, I-" someone cut her off.
"If you knew what this girl goes through, you'd shut up. Now you're just coming off stupid." Mason said. She shut up and looked away, with an attitude.
"Thanks." I whispered.
School went by fast, and now I was walking home with Mason. We walked along the beach, extra careful of my dad. Luckily, he never passed, and we got to Annie's safely. I pushed open the door and walked through the house, with that same feeling of dread. I ran upstairs and saw that Annie wasn't there. I saw a note on the side table, telling me she was in the hospital. I had to get there before she was gone.
"We're going to the hospital." I took Mason's arm and ran until we reached the pizza place. I went inside and asked a random person where the hospital was.
"Go straight, turn and it should be right there." a little old lady told me. Tears came to my eyes as I thought of Annie. We ran straight, turned and sure enough, it was there.
"Annie Cherinnson please." I got to the front desk. I ran up to the room he told me and saw her sleeping there. A nurse sat by her side, and saw me walk in. She had sadness in her eyes as she talked to me. "Is she okay?!"
"We think she can be going any day now..." she touched my shoulder. I put my head down and tears flowed down my face.
"Did you know her...?"
"She was my grandma." I whispered, feeling Mason's arms wrap around me.
