Almost There
C h a p t e r One:
I really didn’t want to be in school. I really didn’t want to be sitting next to some boy who couldn’t keep his mouth shut and a girl who looked like she wanted to punch my face. I didn’t want to be in this cold desk listening to Mr. Reilly talk about his childhood and Much ado about Nothing. I didn’t want to afterwards to go my locker were two people would be making out on top of it. And I didn’t want to then proceed to go to yet another class where I wanted to kill myself. I really didn’t want to be in school.
It was sad to think it wasn’t always this way. I mean I even liked going to school at one point, but now it sucked. It sucks so bad that even going to sleep knowing in the morning I would be going to school made it so I wouldn’t want to sleep. And the thing is, I’m stuck here for another 2 and half years. Stuck in a dead end town. Stuck in the same routine everyday. Stuck with no way out.
I laid my head down on my desk to face the smart board. I swore we had seen this slip before, but that didn’t stop Mr. Reilly. I looked down at my jeans. There was a small stain in the left hand pocket from when I spilled sauce on them two months ago. There was also a small hole in the bottom of the pocket were I had accidently ran into a lab desk to hard and fast. As I examined my jeans over and over, I felt a tap on my elbow.
“Yes?” I asked in a calm tone.
“You liking the battle scene right here?” Jake asked.
I rolled my eyes. Jake was a kid who I used to have a massive crush on two years ago. But now I really despised him. Not because he was f***ing my best friend, but the fact that he insists on pretending to be my friend because of it. He was one of those football stars that everyone loved. I just found him annoying and foolish.
“Come on Callie, this is interesting right!?” He said again more sarcastic this time.
Just smiling I put my head back down on my desk and closed my eyes. But there it was again, the tap on my elbow.
“What!?” I said jerking my head up and looking at him right in the eye. I was staring at him seeing threw his phony personality and fake smile. His eyes narrowed in on mine.
“Your flies undone.” I looked away from his smirk and down to my pants. I threw my hands on my desk and looked back at the clip. “Today’s just gonna be another one of those days.” I whispered to myself before closing my eyes for the rest of the class.
