    CHAPTER SEVEN
I felt my cheeks turn the color of the roses that were carefully placed in the hanging baskets above our heads. Jake quickly stuck his hand in his pocket, and i put mine on the door handle.
"well, was that all you had to tell me?" i asked, nudging the door open with my hip.
"yeah, i guess that's it," he said, shrugging off what had just happened, and following me back inside.
i watched as he rejoined his table and all of his friends asked him questions. they were probably wondering what he had been doing outside talking to a lowlife like me.
"what was that all about?" Addison asked as i reentered the kitchen, eyeing me suspiciously.
"nothing," i told her, but she would not accept that answer, "i don't know."
she sat on the fake leather bar stool and placed her elbow on the cool granite countertop, settling her chin on the palm of her hand and staring at me, waiting for the whole story.
once i had squeezed every last detail out of my conversation with Jake, Addison gave me some interesting feedback.
"oh, he totally likes you!" she said, "why else would he take time out of his day to talk to you?" wow, thanks.
Jake obviously didn't like me. we had never liked eachother, from the moment we met in sixth grade. we just weren't compatible. i knew that, Addison knew that, but did Jake know that?
Addison interrupted my worried thoughts when she chimed in, "looks like table two is waiting for the check,". instead of going over there and giving it to them herself, of course she had to make me do it. she just loves making me suffer.
"is that all for you guys?" i asked, setting the check on the table, practically answering for them.
they all nodded, watching as i stacked all their plates in a pile, ready to take them back to the kitchen.
when i came back, the little black booklet was closed and waiting for me. i picked it up and walked to the register in the back of the restaurant. a small, torn up slip of paper floated to the ground when i opened the book, and i bent down to pick it up.
    call me sometime. 541-988-1773
i sighed and tucked the piece of paper in my back pocket, wondering if what Addison had said actually could be possible.
do not call the number written up there, i totally just made it up & i have no idea who's it is. SHOUTOUT TO baileyreid ! whoever leaves a comment on my story will get a shoutout on my next chapter :) if you guys have any suggestions for my story, or for my next stories, please let me know, i'd love to hear your ideas (: it's on my bucket list to get 100 followers & i've got 32 left to go. wanna help me out? ;D thought so. thanks for all the support you guys, you mean the world to me. tell me what you think, i love feedback <3

    SECOND CHANCES
    CHAPTER THIRTY ONE
As soon as I made it up the stairs, I raced out of Jordan’s house, and ran home as fast as my legs could carry me.
Halfway through my escape, a voice called out to me from behind.
“Morgan, wait!” it said. It was George’s voice, I could tell.
I swiftly turned around to see him running towards me.
He caught up to me in no time, and was standing right in front of me before I even had time to wipe the mascara smudges from under my eyes.
“what do you want,” I mumbled, staring at the gravel under my violet converse. It sounded more like a statement than a question.
“what’s wrong with you? why did you run away?” he asked. That’s a stupid question, I thought.
“why do you think I ran away?” I asked him. it was more of a rhetorical question than anything. “you all hate me,” I whispered.
All of a sudden, as if it was part of a script, it started raining. The weather fit my mood perfectly.
“Morgan, why would you think that I hate you?” he asked. it was obvious though, wasn’t it? Did I really need to explain? I mean, he hasn’t talked to me since the rumor broke out. “you don’t even care,” I told him, still not looking up. “when you found out about my secret, you didn’t even come to me about it, you just stopped talking to me,”
“that’s because it doesn’t matter to me. I don’t care what happened to you in the past, you’re still the same girl to me that you were before.” He said, putting his arm on my wet shoulder.
“and what girl is that?” I asked him, not really curious, but hoping for a comforting response.
“the most beautiful girl I’ve ever met,” he stated, but he wasn’t done. “you might have screwed up in the past, but I don’t care about that. You’re still perfect in my eyes. I feel more like myself when I’m with you than when I’m with anybody else. You make me so happy, Morgan, and I don’t want to let that go,” he told me, and I knew that he meant it. “George, I-” He looked up at me with worry in his eyes, as if I was going to say I didn’t feel the same way. “I love you,” I told him, and I knew that I meant it, too.
It didn’t matter to me that we had only been together for a couple weeks, as long as I knew that I could be with him forever.
“I love you too, Morgan,” he said, swooping me up off my feet and kissing me.
In that moment, nothing mattered. Not the rain beating down on us, or the fact that we were getting soaked to the bone.
In that moment, I was happier than I had been for a long time. it was like a scene right out of a movie.
And just like every movie, I knew we would have a happy ending.
THIS WAS THE LAST CHAPTER. thanks to all of you for your support, i love you(: i'll be starting a new story soon. not a sequel, but it'll be the same kind of story. so i hope all of you read it ;) comment.follow.fave? pictures of all the characters are posted on my wall, check them outt ♥

    CHAPTER TWENTY ONE
I tried to shake off the conversation I had just had with David while I was walking to my next class.
    Science, yuck.
The good thing was, I didn’t have this class with Colleen or David. But I did have it with Jesse, Natalie, and George.
The teacher took attendance, and then started talking about a project that was due next Friday. We had to make a presentation about any topic we wanted that had to do with science. Which was a problem for me. I never paid attention in science. The other problem was, we had to have a partner. It was a two person project, and we would lose points if we worked by ourselves. But how’s the new girl supposed to find a partner?
I was hoping that Natalie would ask me, but it was obvious that her and Jesse would be partners.
While I was frantically searching the room for a suitable partner, I locked eyes with George. Apparently he was looking for a partner, too. Perfect. Plus, he was only a few houses down from me.
‘do you want to be partners?’ he mouthed from across the room.
‘sure, sounds good’ I mouthed back.
“okay, now meet up with your partners and discuss which topic you will be presenting.” The teacher said. I walked over to where George was sitting and sat down on his desk, facing him.
“so,” I began, “what do you want to do our project on?” I asked. “I don’t really care,” he said, not looking up at me.
“we could do like, volcanoes or something, because that’s what we were just working on in class.”
“okay, that sounds good,” I smiled, even though we hadn’t even learned about volcanoes yet at my old school. Oh well, George could teach me.
I was actually really looking forward to doing this project with George. He was really attractive, and he seemed super nice too.
“so we should probably exchange phone numbers or something..” he said, pulling out his phone and handing it to me.
“oh yeah, good idea,” I said, taking my old, worn out blackberry out of my back pocket and handing it to him.
After we handed our phones back to each other, we started researching. The hour dragged on slowly, and finally, it was time to leave. As I was walking out of the classroom, George called after me.
“so, I’ll text you?” he said with a cute, boyish grin plastered on his face.
    “definitely,” I smiled.

    SECOND CHANCES
    CHAPTER TEN
Colleen and I toured around the whole school. She showed me where all my classes were, and she introduced me to each of the teachers. I actually had all my classes with her except for two.
That would be helpful, at least until I met some other people.
I liked Colleen, though. She was really nice. and did I forget to mention super pretty? I didn’t know why a girl like her would ever want to be friends with a girl like me, but I was willing to go along with it.
At lunch, Colleen introduced me to all of her friends, who were all flawless, just like her.
There was Sophia, Jordan, Tara, David, and John. Sophia and Tara were twin sisters, but they didn’t look anything alike.
Sophia had light brown hair and hazel eyes, and Tara had almost reddish hair, super pale skin, and billions of freckles. But they were both gorgeous, all the same.
Jordan had long, dark brown hair, dark skin and dark eyes. She seemed really athletic, but also girly.
John was super tall and muscular, and it seemed like he had a thing for Jordan since he kept glancing over at her.
Then there was David, Colleen’s boyfriend. He was probably three times as attractive as John, or any other guy I had seen so far at this school. He had dirty brown hair, tan skin, and warm brown eyes. I could definitely see why he and Colleen were together, they were probably the two best looking in the grade.
I liked Colleen’s group of friends, they were really welcoming and nice to me. But I could tell that the rest of the school didn’t feel the same way.
Most people would pass by our table without even thinking, even though half the table was still empty. No one came up to talk to us, or even looked at us as they walked to the condiments cart.
Either Colleen and her friends were the social outcasts that nobody liked, or they were the snobby popular type. I was hoping it was the first, but I had a feeling it was the second.
But why would some snobby popular girls like me?
so guys, what do you think of morgan's new friends? feedback is much appreciated (; comment, follow, fave, tell someone , you know the drilll. LOVE YOU ALL★

    SECOND CHANCES
    CHAPTER ELEVEN
“Hey, Morgan!” I heard a familiar voice echo down the hallway. Maybe it was familiar because it was the voice of the only girl I knew at this new school.
“Yeah?” I turned around on my heels, now facing Colleen.
“I know it’s only your first day, but I’m having a little get-together with the group tonight at my house, and I was wondering if you wanted to come?” she picked at her fresh manicure.
“Definitely, that would be fun! I just need to text my mom quick and make sure,” I said, reaching down and pulling my iPhone out of my backpack.
“Okay, well we will all meet at the front of the school when school ends, so if you can come then just meet us there!” she gave me a wink and then walked passed me towards her next class.
After I got a text back from my mom at 2:15 saying that I could go to Colleen’s house, I couldn’t wait for the day to end. I actually had friends, and it was only my first day at this new school. It was amazing, how fast things had changed.
when the final bell rang, I rushed to the front of the school to meet up with Colleen and her friends. By the time I got there, almost all of them were there already: the only person missing was John, who arrived a few seconds after me.
“alright, everyone’s here, so are we ready to go?” Colleen asked, and everyone nodded. “okay, well lets go then! Morgan, since you’re new at this, you can ride with me and Jordan.”
I followed the two girls to a vintage, faded yellow slug bug. “like it? I got it for my birthday,” Jordan smiled, obviously proud of her car.
We climbed in, and took off. Jordan and Colleen spent the ten minute car ride singing to new pop songs, and I sat back and watched them.
Finally, we pulled up to a gated driveway.

    CHAPTER TWELVE
“woah, is this your house?” I asked Colleen.
“of course!” she said, rolling down the window and typing a passcode into a little metal box. The gate swung open, and Jordan sped down the drive way until we pulled up to the house.
Colleen’s house had to be the biggest house I had ever seen.
“okay, we can go inside and wait for everyone else to come,” Colleen started walking towards the front door. No sooner did we get inside than a red corvette and a dark green jeep pulled up next to Jordan’s car. “they can let themselves in,” Colleen told me, “do you want a grand tour?”
“I’d love one..” I replied. She took me to almost all of the twenty rooms in the house, and showed me to the backyard where they had a pool, hot tub, and trampoline. And I thought my house was nice.
“hey, Colleen! Where are you?” a voice called from the kitchen. It was David’s, I knew it. Before she could shout back, he stuck his head through the sliding glass door between the kitchen and the porch. “there you are, we’ve all been waiting for you,” he took her by the waist and lead her back inside.
I followed the two of them down to the basement, where I could already here music playing and people talking. I didn’t know what exactly they did at these ‘get-togethers’ of theirs, but I guess I was about to find out. Either way, I was just happy to be part of something for once.

    CHAPTER THIRTEEN
when Colleen, David and I entered the room, everyone was sitting in a circle on the floor. They were all drinking virgin pina coladas out of tall tiki glasses. there were three spots left in the circle, which i assumed were for us.
Colleen and David sat down and started sipping the beverages that had been waiting for them at their spots. i sat down at the only open spot, between Colleen and Jordan, and did the same.
"hey, guys!" sophia said, "we were just about to start truth or dare" she showed her perfectly alligned teeth in a bright white smile.
"sweet!" Colleen said, scanning the circle, "who's gonna go first?"
"OOH!" Tara screeched, catching us all off guard. "i wanna go first!" Colleen nodded, giving her permission to start.
"first, John." everyone's heads turned to face John, who had been silent up to this point. Tara continued. "so, John. truth or dare?"
John hesitated, and then slowly replied, "truth".
"alright," Tara thought for a moment, "you have to rate every girl in this room on a 1-10 scale, of how pretty you think they are." it didn't seem like that big of a deal to me, but John's face went beet red immediatley. Tara seemed content with her decision.
everyone leaned in eagerly, waiting for John's reply. he just sat there for a few minutes, with a puzzled look on his face, scanning us all over. finally, he had come up with his answer.
"okay, umm.." he still seemed a bit unsure. whether it was because he really didn't know, or because he was afraid he would hurt somebodies feelings, i couldn't tell. "oh, and you cant just all give us tens. be honest.." Tara confirmed.
"okay. Tara, 8. Sophia, 8. Jordan, 9. Colleen, 9.2. Morgan.." John trailed off. "what was that?" Jordan asked curiously. "Morgan, 9.5," he said, and i was shocked. me? prettier than Colleen? no way. he's got to be out of his mind. But everyone just nodded their heads in agreement. that is, everyone but Collen, who just sat there in shock.
finally, when Colleen was recovered, we played a few more rounds. Jordan had to walk into the shower with her clothes on, and when she was done she got to pick who would go next.
she picked me. "okay, Morgan, truth or dare?" she asked.
"um...dare." i said, instantly regretting it.
"okay, Morgan, i dare you to...." she paused, probably trying to think of something perfect. "i dare you to make out with David."

    CHAPTER FOURTEEN
I couldn’t breathe. Make out with David? Is she crazy?
I had only known him for a day; plus, he was going out with the only girl at this school that I knew so far. If I did this, she would hate me. If I didn’t, they would all think I’m just some goody two-shoes girl from a private school, and none of them will want to talk to me.
I glanced at Colleen, hoping for some form of approval. A head nod, a silent ‘it’s okay’, anything to ease my guilt. But I got nothing.
So I just stood up and David followed me. We walked to the outside of the circle and stood facing eachother.
    This was super awkward.
I cupped his chin in my hand, and stood up on my tiptoes to kiss him.
David moved his hands to my waist, and pulled me closer to him. He slowly kept working his hands down until he was holding my butt.
I immediately pulled away from him, and sat back down with a disgusted look on my face.
That’s when I decided that I really hate David.
    With a burning passion.

    CHAPTER FIFTEEN
All of us sat in silence for a while. I didn’t really know what to say, and neither did anybody else. All I knew is that I was done with this game.
Finally, Colleen broke the silence. “okay, I think we should just all leave now,” she said, glaring at me. I looked down, I didn’t know how to react. She wasn’t actually mad, was she? It was just a dare. It didn’t even mean anything, at least not to me.
We all stood up, and Jordan caught my eye. She walked up to me & whispered to me, ‘meet me outside by my car in two minutes, I have to tell you something important,’ I nodded to her, packing up my things and slipping on my sandals. What could Jordan possibly have to tell me? My answer came two minutes later, when I saw her waiting for me outside, leaning on her vintage car.
“So? What is it?” I asked her curiously.
“what I’m about to tell you is super confidential and you can’t tell anyone. okay?” she started, awaiting my reply.
“yeah, sure, I won’t tell anybody,” I assured her, confused. What’s the big secret?
“okay. So do you find it odd at all that Colleen just took you in as fast as she did?” Jordan had just spoke out loud the question I had been asking myself all day.
“yeah, I guess, I just figured she was nice. Why?”
“Colleen is using you. Trust me, I know what I’m talking about, I’m her best friend. And she just wants to be friends with you because you’re pretty,” she told me.
“wait, what are you talking about?” I asked her. What was happening here? Colleen was using me? “it’s Colleen’s strategy. She’s the most popular girl in school, but it wasn’t always that way. She used to be a total nerd. But she’s worked her way to the top. And she’s not giving that up easily. So she’s recruiting all the pretty people. That way, everyone will want to be part of her group, and she will stay popular. She’s just using you, you’re part of her plan,”
“why are you telling me all this, if you're her best friend?” I asked, hurt by the obvious truth of Jordan’s words. So colleen really didn’t like me for who I was, she just liked me for what I looked like.
But I guess she’s just like most people these days.
getting a little better? i hope so :D thanks for reading, if you have been. could i possibly get some more faves on this chapter? i really need the support right now.. i would love some feedback(: pictures of all the characters are posted on my wall, check them outt ♥

    CHAPTER SIXTEEN
Jordan motioned for me to get into the car. I got in. After all, she was my ride home.
“do you want the honest truth?” Jordan asked me, starting the car & pulling out of Colleen’s driveway.
“umm.. yeah?” I replied. Why would I want a lie?
“truth is.. I don’t even like Colleen. None of us do. Except for David, of course. But he only likes her because she lets him.. you know..” Jordan’s voice trailed off.
“yeah, I know,” I assured her. "so why do you hang out with her then?”
“well, because..” she started, “she’s dating David, who’s best friends with John..” she said, emphasizing the John part. I could see where this was going.
“aah, so you like John,” I said, stating the obvious.
“yeah, who wouldn’t?” she laughed uncomfortably. I shrugged. John was pretty darn attractive, I wasn’t about to deny it.
“just because you like John, why does that mean you have to be friends with Colleen?” I asked. I still had no clue what Colleen had to do with any of this.
“because David is John’s best friend. And if I’m not friends with Colleen, then David won’t like me. And if David doesn’t like me, then John won’t like me. So if I want John to like me, I have to be friends with Colleen.” She explained.
“well, i can totally tell that John likes you.. so just go out with him & then you don’t have to worry about it. Then you can stop being friends with Colleen, and still have John,” it made sense to me. “wait- slow down..” Jordan said excitedly, “John likes me?!”
“yeah, can’t you tell? He’s always sneaking glances at you, and he always sits by you whenever he has the chance. He obviously likes you,” I told her.
“Morgan, you are a life saver. Thank you so much!” she screeched, pulling into my neighborhood.
“wait, how do you know where I live?” I asked her. She had never been to my house before..
“you live here?! This is where I live!” Jordan exclaimed. We were neighbors?
Jordan pulled into her driveway, which was six or seven houses down from mine. I hadn’t really been counting, but that sounded right.
“I can just walk from here, I live a few houses down,” I smiled, opening the passenger door and climbing out, “thanks for the ride!”
Maybe this new school wouldn’t be as drama-free as I hoped.

    CHAPTER EIGHTEEN
Jordan drove me home from school, since we were hanging out anyways. When we got to her house, Natalie, Jesse and George were already there. I didn’t know which one was which yet, but I assumed that the girl was Natalie.
“hey guys!” Jordan said through her rolled-down window, pulling into her driveway.
    “heeey Jordan,” they all replied.
The two of us climbed out of the car, and Jordan started introducing. “so guys, this is Morgan, she’s new here. Not to the neighborhood, but to the school. So she doesn’t really know anybody..” she continued.
“Morgan, this is Natalie,” she said, pointing towards the girl. I had figured.
“and this is Jesse,” she motioned towards the guy holding a skateboard. I had seen him doing some tricks as we drove in, he was pretty good.
“and this is George,” she said, pointing towards a boy with dark brown hair and chocolatey brown eyes. He had tan skin, complete with a few freckles here and there. And, just about the cutest dimples I had ever seen.
“hi, guys,” I said, giving a warm smile.
They all greeted me back, and then Jesse went back to skateboarding, and George went back to trying to make him fall over. I sat on the curb, and Natalie came and sat next to me. Jordan went inside for something, I don’t really know what.
“so, I hear you’re friends with Colleen?” she said, not even looking at me.
“well, no, not really. I thought I was, but apparently she’s just using me. So I guess I’m not.” I explained.
“yeah, I know what you mean. The same thing happened to me,” she said, turning to me and tucking a strand of her dark brown hair behind her ear.
“you used to be friends with her?” I asked.
“well, I thought we were. She was just using me, just like she’s using you. She was using all of us at one point in time,” she told me.
“I see.. so why aren’t you anymore? Because she only liked you for your looks?”
“yeah, that, and also because she told everyone in school about my secret. That’s the kind of thing she does.” She said, looking down at her knees.
“what was your secret?” I asked, hoping she wouldn’t get offended.
“last year, I was anorexic and suicidal. I cut, and I never ate anything. I hated everything about myself. I got so close to going to the hospital because of it once, but I got better. I trusted Colleen enough to tell her about it, and then she turned on me and told everyone,” she said, reliving the experience.
“I’m sorry,” I told her. I’m glad that I had realized what Colleen was doing before she found out about my secret. That would have been a disaster.
“but it’s okay now. Because now I have these guys,” she said, smiling at the two boys who were practically tackling each other.
“but mostly Jesse..” Jordan said, popping up behind us.
“you’re dating Jesse?” I asked her.
“yeah. He was the only friend I had for a while after the whole Colleen thing happened. he’s like my best friend,” she smiled. I watched the two boys chase each other down the street. “they’re kind of best friends, too,” she added.
“yeah, I can tell,” I smiled.
I liked these people way better than Colleen and her pervy boyfriend.
This was going to be a good year – I could tell.

    SECOND CHANCES
    CHAPTER EIGHTEEN
It was Monday, finally, and I was officially done with my old school. I never had to go back there again, and my life couldn’t get any better.
I woke up in the morning a little late & rushed out of bed so I would have enough time to get ready for school before the bus came. I had never rode a bus before, in my whole life. That part scared me. & since I had a late birthday, I wouldn’t get my license until waaaaaaaaaaay later in the year. So until then, I was stuck on the bus.
I stood in front of my closet, examining all my clothes, until I finally found the perfect outfit. I slipped on a pair of bright, white shorts with a braided brown belt, and put on a red and white striped button down shirt with the cuffs rolled up to my elbows. Then I slipped on a pair of braided leather flip flops, and I was ready to go.
I joined Lauren in the bathroom. After brushing my teeth and washing my face, I was ready for makeup. I put on mascara and silver baked eye shadow that made my blue eyes pop. I didn’t need to do anything to my hair. I had straightened it yesterday, and it got a little wavy from sleeping on it last night. I liked the way it looked, so I just kept it.
The bus came at 7:20, so I got to the bus stop at 7:15 just to be sure I didn’t miss it. I didn’t know anyone on the bus, so I just sat by myself for the ten minute ride to school. Once we got there, I rushed to my locker and grabbed the books I would need for my first two classes, and then walked to homeroom.
Once I got into Mrs. Greenwood’s room, I noticed a familiar face. Apparently Jordan was in my homeroom.
“hey, Jordan,” I said, approaching her. She was talking to a few people I didn’t know, but she left the group to come talk to me.
“hey, Morgan, hows it going?” she asked, smiling. She was wearing a yellow sundress, and her hair was curly, with her bangs braided back.
“it’s going really good.” I told her.
“who were those people you were talking to?” I asked her.
“oh, that was George, Natalie, and Jesse. They live really close to us.” she told me, and then added “we’re all hanging out tonight, if you want to come over and meet them,” “yeah, sure, I’d love to!” then the bell rang, and we sat down in our desks.
