I had the same problem! (well not the mayor part. People thought I was rich because I came from a private school) I stopped telling everyone my grades, even when I was asked. I made absolutely no attempt to talk about grades and after a while people stopped pegging me as "that smart girl" and now like me for being funny, which is what I wanted the whole time.
