Chapter 1
I frowned at the T.V. It was same old, same old. Then I heard my younger brother screaming. He screamed all the time. I heard my mother's soft voice hushing him and then his crys slowly faded away.
I need to get out of here.
I grabbed my coat and opened the front door. I walked out of our little housing estate and into town. It wasn't any more than a 10 minute walk. I sat in my favourite cafe, called Earl's Cafe, and ordered a capichino. I still can't believe that this is going ahead. I can't believe that mum and dad agreed to send me away to a boarding school. A boarding school! Why?! I was going to miss my friends, my village,my town, but I wasn't going to miss my little brother, Harri, screaming. Not at all.
Earl came up to me then, inturrupting my thoughts.
"Are you alright, Dakota? You seem a little...sad." He asked.
"Well...I...I....I have to go to boarding school..." I admitted, feeling very sad indeed.
"Oh no! So I won't be seeing my favourite customer as much?" He seemed sad, too.
"I'll make sure I'll come and visit, Earl!" I promised.
Someone shouted Earl's name from the distance.
"I gotta go! See ya around, D!" Then he was gone.
I sipped my capichino thoughtfully. What was I going to do? I don't WANT to be sent away. Not at all. There's got to be some way that I can stop it.... reply
