chapter six
Liam's POV
"Charlotte!" I scream and close the door to her apartment with my foot. I set the apologetic flowers and chocolates on the kitchen counter and start to walk into her bedroom.
She looks up, the wide smile on her face quickly fading.
"What?" I frown and place my sweaty hand on the back of my neck.
She rolls her eyes and chuckles. "Where's your shirt?"
My eyes widen in shock and then frustration. How could I be so stupid? I gave Kennedy my shirt. I wasn't thinking; I never think when I'm around her. My good judgement slips away from me.
"Just went for a run." I bite my lip, hoping the nervous sweat that covers my bare chest is enough to make Charlotte believe me.
She smiles and crashes into me. She wraps her arms around my neck, sending me crashing into the wall. My hand rests on the small of her back as she kisses my nose, then my forehead, then my cheek, and then, finally, my lips.
I feel weird, seeing as what happened last night with Kennedy, kissing her. She senses this and pulls away, sliding off of me. She acts nonchalant towards my stiff movements and walks out the door and into the kitchen. I slowly follow behind her and smile when her mouth gapes in shock at the presents.
"You're sweet." She smiles as she searches through her cabinets; probably looking for a vase to keep the flowers in.
"I know." I smile and slide on the couch, arms open as Charlotte slips onto my lap.
"Cocky, are we?" She laughs.
Her phone vibrates and she rushes off of my lap to check it. Her smile fades and turns into a hostile, angry, and upset frown. She shakes her head and walks over to the couch, sitting away from me this time.
"What's up?" I make an attempt to grab the phone from her but she quickly slaps my hand away, tears threatening to fall from her eyes. "Let me see."
She seems to have an argument inside her head, but she finally throws the phone into my lap. I look at the screen and gawk at the picture of Kennedy and I in bed.
"Who sent this?"
"Does it matter? Why are you in bed with her?" She yells in disgust at me.
"This was a while ago. Before I met you, I promise. Where did this even come from?" I lie and delete the picture, but not before sending it to myself.
"Are you sure?" She says between sniffles.
I frown and slide closer to her, enveloping her in my arms. I squeeze her waist gently before facing her.
"Promise."
She smiles and rests her head against my chest. "I love you Liam."
"Love you too."
