New friends and Curious Minds
I was the only seventh grader to made Color Guard. The only one in middle school, to be exact. Everyone one else on the team was Freshman or Sophomores. We had one or two Seniors. After two whole weeks of sweating in the sun at band camp, we were getting ready for Drum Corps International. Where lots of college bands compete and we learned what it would take to be a good team. We stood in the band room, waiting on 12 to roll around so we could load onto the bus. Then he walked in. His brown flippy hair, gorgeous eyes, and slender body. God, he was amazing.
"Alexis... who is that?" I said in a frenzy.
"Oh,that's Demetre." she said. and the fact she said it so calmy was crazy. Alexis and I had been friends since we were in 5th grade; when she first moved here. She had a long.lanky body while all I had were big thighs. She played the flute in the band. We talked about everything.... including each other. We finally got on the bus and listened to Mr. Berryman, the band director. tell us what not to do on the bus. We took off, and about 45 minutes into our ride, Demetre and his friend, Seth, were singing "Everywhere I Go" by Hollywood Undead. A song and band I had never heard before. Demetre and I had never really talked too much. Maybe two or three times before while he was dating my cousin. Which they broke up about 2 weeks later. After getting angry looks from Mr. Berryman, they finally shut up. We stopped by McDonald's and we went straight to the college where DCI was taking place. Mr. Berryman told us to line up according to who we wanted to sit next to. The next thing I know, Seth wants me to sit between him and Demetre. I just moved inbetween them, not thinking anything about it. they stayed gone anyways, talking to girls. When Seth finally came back,we did some inoocent flirting. Which I didn't even like him, it was just fun. We got back at 2 am, and me and Demetre were the only ones left. We said our goodbyes, and talked later that night. He was angry about his parents. And I told him to take a chill pill...to which he replied he had already taken enough. I brushed it off, not knowing then he had a pill problem. I just put the pieces together a few weeks ago. And one of those times he took a sh/t load of pills and somehow woke up. It's funny how you don't notice things until it's too late to save them. September 17th, we kissed. On the way up there me and Alyssa played the state game with Demetre. It's where someone thinks of 3 states, and you have to guess them, Everytime you get one wrong, their hands move down your leg.Alyssa was sitting in the seat next to us when we made out.. And she liked him. Which I didn't know, we weren't best friends or anything. People stereotype band people as "geeks"...but let me tell you. They are freaks. After that night, it was a competition between me and Alyssa to see who could gain his attention the most.Constant Facebook arguments, normal arguments. Demetre and I held hands whenever we could. Hugged whenever we could. We talked allllll the time. But maybe that sitll wasn't enough. In November, I was going to Disneyworld with the band. And I had to room with Alyssa. I thought me and Demetre were going great. But apparently, that was only the very beginning of a sh/tty end.
