    All A Mystery
    Chapter 29
    Graces POV
Sophie drove me to Sam's flat shortly after we finished our shopping and climbed into her car. It had started raining causing the temperature to drop, and it to pour down as we drove through town.
When she pulled over in front of Sams place, I hugged her before grabbing the bags and my backpack tossing it over my shoulder before running for his front door. My fist knocked against the black steel door as I got soaked from the rain falling from above. Sam told me he would be home, yet he wasn't answering the door.
Soaked through to my skin, I dug into my bag for my phone and dialed Sams number.
    To my luck, no answer.
I finally took one last final loud knock, ready to walk home when the door opened to reveal Tom staring at my soaked body.
"Is Sam here?" I asked over the other voices I could here.
"Yeah, Come on in Grace." Tom smiled, "I didn't think you'd come." He added.
"Wasn't planning on it." I replied tossing my bags by the door.
Tom walked with me into the living room to reveal Sam talking with two girls and a guy, laughing over something I didn't hear. The girls practically throwing themselves over him.
    "Sam?" Tom called out.
    "Yeah?" He replied looking up.
"Grace is here." He caught his attention.
Sam's head snapped up and looked at me as his face turned serious, standing up shirtless and walking towards me.
"What happened to you?" Sam asked as I stopped him from hugging me.
"Someone doesn't know how to answer the door." I replied somewhat angry.
"How was shopping?" He asked following me to his bedroom.
"Sam, I'm here. You don't need to act like everythings going to be fine." I replied, shrugging my top off to reveal my tank.
"Im cold and wet and need to change, out please." I stated next.
He walked out and left me to quickly dry off and change into a white blouse with shorts followed by his black sweater hanging in his closet. My makeup was ruined so I wiped it off not bothering with re-applying it. As for my soaked hair, I left it down and brushed through it, as it curled to my natural looking hair.
When I was finished, my feet carried me out the bedroom door and to the living room to curl up on the leather chair in the corner of the room, into a ball to warm myself up.
"Grace? This is my brother, Jacob and two of my friends Molly and Bailey." He introduced.
"Hi." I replied tugging the hood on to block out the living room light.
"Conners got some weak spots, mainly his left side, its always unprotected." I heard Jacob talk.
They all were talking about the fight that was going to take place late tonight.
"If you go for the left side of his rib cage and kidneys, you should have him." Molly added.
They all nodded there heads as they kept talking and going over his fight. Tom walked towards me and kneeled down in front of my chair, talking low enough only I could hear.
    "He'll be fine Grace."
"Thats not the point. The point is he doesn't need to be in jail for killing a guy." I spat quietly.
"He wont kill him." Tom stated.
"No? So the last two times was just what Tom? A lesson?" I asked.
"Grace, I get it. I've seen Sam when he's mad, it's not good. I'm surprised he even is dating you to be quite honest. He was always so agressive as a kid. The scar above his brothers eye, was from him. Smashed his face with a beer bottle." He informed me.
"I just don't want Conner to die. Sam should just drop it. Wish he would, I'm over it." I whispered.
"What are you talking about?" Sam rose his eyebrows.
"Nothing." We both replied too quickly.
    "Tom?" Sam shot.
"I asked if she was hungry, was going to go get some food." He covered smoothly.
"And I replied yes please." I half smiled and shook with chills.
Tom left to go and get food at the local Chinese place for all of us just as Sam stood up again.
"Grace you alright?" Sam asked concerned.
"Mhm, just..cold.." I trailed off feeling tired.
"Come on, lets go lay down for a bit." He offered his hand.
Lazily, I took it, following him a few steps before he picked me up bridal style and carried me back to the bedroom placing me onto the bed. I grabbed the blankets tugging them up to my chest before rolling over to the edge of the opposite side.
I felt the bed sink as I knew Sam climbed in behind me.
"What about them?" I whispered, eyes closing.
"They're going to go join Tom and eat there, bring food back for us later." He whispered.
Sam's arm wrapped around my waist as he carefully tugged my back to his chest.
"Grace about the fight, I-" Sam started.
"Shh," I whispered and I wrapped my arms around his, just before falling asleep.

Grace is much better than beauty.
Grace is from the inside and shows on the outside as well; whereas, beauty is just a shell. A coat of paint. Nothing more than a disguise.
