Aha, well that's good! I just have this underlying fear that everything I say is weird/creepy.
Thanks, though. I'm happy many people also think that I'm correct *wears pride hat*

If I'm a 100 percent sure I don't want to do anything with history when I grow up or in real life, why am I pressured to excel in it?

I agree. It is stupid how they try and force you to be good at it, but it's not stupid how they force you to do it. They're helping you get a grip on everything, which to me is better. I'd rather know a little bit in everything than just know what i'm good at. I don't think we should make kids retake failed classes as long as they tried. Also we shouldn't let test scores decide our future.

Of course.
I love learning, but I don't like being forced and pressured to be amazing at it.

I've never had a teacher that has forced me to be good at something. Sounds like my parents though.

The teachers at my old school were never like that; however, the ones here will shout at you if you don't get like a 98 or above. My parents are the same.

Oh my god ~ this. It's so stupid how they do that, my dream is to become an actor but I fail math basically every year and always get told that I need to try harder and that I'm not going anywhere.

And then when you tell school what you want to do, they always say "You're never going to do that! Pick something realistic!"
I mean, what's the point if you don't even /try/? If it doesn't work out, great for us. If it does, great for us. Just let us try.
And just to be clear, I get that having knowledge is good, and math isn't so bad, but you don't need to be a super genius to 'get somewhere in life'.

Yesss!!! I'm very smart but math isn't my strong point (at all) and all of my teachers in the beginning of the year think i'm not going to be smart but after the first semester they are all like 'Wow, we didn't know you were going to be so smart!"

Aha, same here.
It sucks though because, since I get good grades in other subjects, I'm always pushed to be good in math or to always get better in the other subjects.

I know!!! and when my report card comes, no one cares about the good grades. it's only about the math grade. and no matter how hard I try I just cannot do good on the tests. I know how to do it in my head but I just can't do it writing wise

Exactly.
I passed all my other classes with high grades, but since I just barely passed math with a 62% I obviously need to be shouted out!

My math hated me. she gave me a D in math, i deserved a B. 70% on every test and i went in early every Friday and Monday. and the end of year math test, there are 5 different tests A, B, C, D and Reach. the reach test is very advanced. the a$$hole gives me the Reach test, i should of had the C or B

somebody feels the same way as me!
I don't really pay attention in school so I am sort of crap. When I am older I want to be a guitarist and i constantly get told that i have to pick a "realistic career choice" The school system is like telling a fish to climb a tree and then making it feel stupid when it cant do it

How is being a guitarist unrealistic? If you're passionate about it and work hard, it can happen.
I get that we need to learn things. Honestly, I love knowledge and learning things, but I also hate it, you get me? I like to take things at my own pace, thank you very much.
I just don't get why we have to know /everything/ even though our own teachers don't. It seriously stresses me out when I can't do my homework or figure something out because it's like we've all been tricked into thinking if we don't know a certain thing, we're stupid. It's horrible.

I want to meet someone who has actually needed algebra in their life, They should teach us things what we would need in life.

Well, some jobs DO require knowing it, but it's not something that we need in our everyday life.
Honestly, school says they're 'preparing us for the real world' but if they actually were, they'd show us how to pay off bills and stuff like that.

What sucks is that I'm the "smart kid," so if I have difficulty with one thing or get a 98% on the test, it's shouted out to the whole bloody class. And so I become so anxious that if I make the smallest mistake, one day the smoke will clear up, the mirror will shatter, and they'll all realise my stupidity.
