"He is bad news..."
Chapter 6 (part 1)
I was sitting on my window sill later that day. I had been crying all day. Sienna was calling me like 4 times in a row every one hour. Gradually, she got tired and stopped, since I wasn’t picking up. I felt so awful. I realized that all Everett wanted was to f*ck someone; it’s not that he liked me or something. I felt used. We used to be so good together. Not that we had something. We never were together; we stopped hanging out when we were 11. He met Jake and Bryan and I suddenly disappeared. He started getting into trouble. I even heard he spent one night in jail. Those were rumors, of course. His father would never leave him in jail. Why would he? He’s awfully rich.
Everett is your typical bad boy. He beats up guys for no reason, he has no manners at all, he gets into trouble almost every day, he swears a lot, he skips classes for absolutely no reason and he’s a player. Many girls have gotten their heart broken by Everett. When he was a sophomore, I even heard he was dating three girls at the same time. This wasn’t a rumor though. It was true. The girls themselves told me. They didn’t exactly tell me; I overheard a conversation of theirs when I was at the library, researching for a lab report. They wanted to find a way to get back at him. They never made it, though. Everything they did, made him more popular than before.
Rumors had it, that Everett never had a real girlfriend. His longer relationship lasted for two weeks. Sad, I know. He preferred to play around. He wasn’t that kind of guy who would stay with a girl for more than a year. He was afraid of commitments. Yes, I’ve done a full research about Everett. It’s not my fault. I never had friends so rumors were the only thing I could actually spend my time with.
The worst thing of it all was that I got played by him. I got played badly. I gave him the most precious thing a girl has just like that. No second thoughts, no hesitations, nothing; it’s true he can have everything he wants.
I wrapped my arms around my knees and rested my head on them. I took a deep breath, kicking all my thoughts out of my head. I needed to calm down and stop thinking about him for a while. He’s not thinking about me; why should I?
Tic. Tac. Tic. Tac.
My eyes snapped open and I stared at my window. A few pebbles had already landed on the outside of my window sill. I looked around confused. Then, I opened my window and looked down and down till I faced Everett holding a bunch of pebbles and having his hopeful smile on.
Everett. Of course; who else would be rude enough to do such thing? He has no manners, he has the attitude; I should have understood this from the very start.
“What do you want, Everett?” I asked, tired.
“Come down here for a second” he begged me.
I thought about it, but then folded my arms on my chest. “No”.
“Please! I wanna apologize” he begged more, giving me his best puppy–eyes look.
“I said no” I denied.
“Please!”
“Go home, Everett”.
He lowered his gaze, smashing the grass under his feet. “Pretty please?” he muttered.
I looked at him again. He seemed disappointed. I let out a sigh, before jumping back inside my house. “Don’t go anywhere; I’m on my way” I murmured before closing the window.
I tiptoed down the hallway, careful not to wake my parents up and ran down the staircase, wearing a pair of blue Uggs fast. They matched with my black jeans and my blue cropped t–shirt. I opened the front door and sneaked out of the house quietly, grabbing the keys before I go. I closed the door and walked across the garden, reaching the spot where Everett stood. He smiled when he saw me but his smile faded when I stopped about a meter away from him.
