Chapter 27
Grace

The way that Sam held his ground, showed that Conner barely had a fighting chance. Conner stood about 4 steps in front of me before Sam grabbed my arm and tugged me back to stand behind him, protected.
My hand that was streaming with pain was held against my chest as my other hand grabbed onto Sams wrist tightly.
"Warn me? Please. You didn't do sh/t." Conner laughed in Sams face.
"Well then, maybe I should threaten you instead huh? You touch her, you go anywhere near her ever again, I wont hesitate to beat you till your practically dead." Sam shouted at him.
"Sam.." I whispered.
"Why don't you listen to her Sam? I mean, you should, since shes hiding something from you, must be a way to take care of both of them now." Conner teased.
I let go of Sams wrist and stood back slowly, not moving my gaze from both of them.
Sam had enough, he pushed me away from him as he swung and started throwing punches to Conners face. Instead of walking away when he was on the ground, Sam kneeled down and punched him again and again. I couldn't look away. My eyes were glued to the man who was purposely beating a guy to a pulp because he tried getting with me. If it was just a punch sure, but Sam has the passion to beat the crap out of Conner and that scares me. Sam stood up, his right knuckle bloody, and he shoved his foot to connect with Conners stomache, Conner moaning and curling up into a ball.
"Grace," Sam called my name quietly.
My eyes stayed on Conner, who was laying on the ground, rolling around in pain as the guy, my boyfriend, stood next to him, slowly approaching me.
"Grace." Sam called louder enclosing the distance between us.
"I need to look at your hand, it's bleeding."
Instead of waiting for my answer that he knew he wasn't going to get, he grabbed a bandana from his back pocket and wrapped it around my knuckled before tying a knot to keep it in place.
Sams hand wandered down the side of my body to my waist in an attempt to pull me into his chest. My hand went to his torso and pushed him back, not wanting to feel his touch.
"Don't touch me." I whispered barely audiable.
"Grace I --" Sam started.
"No, just don't touch me Sam." I told him taking a few steps back.
"You're hiding something from me? He was right, wasn't he?" Sam asked.
I forced my eyes closed to stop the tears that were now falling down my cheek. When I re opened them, Sam was directly in front of me.
"Tell me." Sam demanded.
"Sam," I started, but he cut me off.
He grabbed my bad hand and squeezed tightly, his eyes black like never before.
"Tell me right now Grace!" Sam shouted directly into my face as I winced in pain.
"You're hurting me." I whispered.
"I don't care. Tell me what you are hiding from me!" He shrieked even louder.
I felt my chest tighten as my anger grew up inside of me. With all my might, I shoved Sam back as he actually budged enough to let my hand go, but his gaze never left mine.
"I wasn't hiding anything from you okay? I just got the d/mn call once I arrived at the park and was about to call you until that like idiot decided to make a guest appearance!" I shouted at Sam.
"Jesus Sam, I am pregnant. How is beyond me. Clearly the protection didn't work. I was going to call and tell you I was just figuring out a way how. I was scared to tell you Sam. Why? Oh I don't know maybe because I don't want you inflicting what you did to Conner on me, and I sure as hell wont be bringing this child into this world knowing that you're walking around beating people to a pulp. Sam I am terrified from you. You think you have my emotions all pinned out, well you don't!" I shouted, raging.
"Grace, you're pregnant?" Sam whispered, trying to calm himself down.
"Yes, I am." I whispered, fresh tears sliding down my face.
"Do I scare you?" He asked with all seriousness.
"Sometimes." I answered.
"Baby I --"
"Sam, I'm here because I want to be here. I'm with you because you are the one I want to be with." I whispered holding onto his dogtags.
"Sam, I am in love with you. But I need some space for a few days. To cool down and take a break from everything. Please understand that." I begged him.
"Grace, I don't want you to dissapear from me." Sam's face fell.
"I'm not dissapearing, Im merely taking a break." I told him half smiling.
"Can I drive you home?" He asked.
I nodded my head as he walked over to me and hugged me tightly, his hand fell to my stomache and slowly rubbed my tummy.
"Are you really pregnant?" He asked to be sure.
"Yes."
I felt him smiled against my neck before he took my good hand as we both walked back to his idling car.
"Grace?" Sam asked before he closed my door.
"I love you too." He smiled.
