Sparks Fly

Chapter 3
 

Afterschool, my mom was too busy to pick me up so I had to stay after.
Being a Monday, there weren’t many clubs meeting.
I had nowhere to go except hang out by the athletics.
All the athletes were giving me odd looks as I walked down the hallway.
Bing!
I pulled out my iPhone and immediately heard a chorus of “ooh”s and “ah”s.
I rolled my eyes.
It was just an overpriced smartphone.
Just as I was checking my messages, I bumped into someone’s chest.
“Watch it!” I shouted just as I was looking up.
The first thing I saw was a pair of teasing gray eyes.
“Good to see you again, Teagan. Can’t get enough of me?”
“Shut it, Carter,” I muttered, attempting to push past him.
“Why don’t you stay after and watch our practice?” Carter offered.
I glared at him. “First of all, why do you think I’m even at this dump after the last bell? Of course I’m staying after. Second, why would I want to watch a bunch of sweaty guys run around and chase a ball?”
“Well it’s either us or the football team,” he chuckled. “None of the other teams let people watch their practices.
“Fine,” I complied.
He grinned at me.
“Sullivan!” a voice called out.
We looked down the hall to see another soccer player jogging up to us.
“Chase!” Carter called out.
“Who’s the girl?” Chase asked.
“Chase, this is Teagan. Teagan, this is Chase,” Carter introduced us. Chase went to stick out his hand for a handshake but Carter interrupted. “Teagan doesn’t like touching other people.”
“Nice to meet you, Teagan,” Chase said with a smile. “What are you doing with a hooligan like Carter?”
“He’s my guide for the week,” I explained, already feeling open and happy with Chase.
“I would make a much better guide if you asked me,” Chase said with a grin.
“I’m sure you would,” I remark to myself with a smile.

Gahh! Sorry this chapter was so short and terrible! I think my next update will be for Facade... I'll try to do my best on that because I have a big English essay due in a week and I barely even have the opening paragraph done [yikes!]
