Soccer camp flew by. I didn't spend one minute without Justin on my mind, and we talked every night on the phone. I was rooming with one of my close soccer friends, Julia, and she covered me whenever I pulled out my cell phone because the coaches confiscated them if they caught you. I tried to focus on the drills but anyone of my soccer buddies could tell my mind was somewhere else. One night, near the end of the week, a group of girls knocked on our door. It was after 10. pm, which was lights out, so they had to sneak over to our room. Julia hushed them and let them in.
"We're meeting the boys down by the lake in 10 minutes. Wana come?" A pretty brunette giggled, standing in a tiny black bikini top and hot pink sweat short-shorts.
I looked at Julia and she looked at me. We smiled at each other and pulled on our bathing suits. We covered up with baggy sweats though, so in case we got caught we could just say we were getting some water.
We followed the girls out the front door of the old dormitory and across the dark, empty road. We followed a path through some trees until we reached the lake. A group of about ten guys were lounging against some trees. We jogged over to them, giggling.
A cute boy with shaggy blonde hair smiled at me. I remembered seeing him play earlier that day. He was good.
"Connar, right?" I asked, closing the distance between us.
"Yeah. And your Kylie?"
I nodded, smiling.
"Your going out with that Justin Bieber kid."
My smile disappeared. "Uhh, yeah."
Julia came over and swung her arm over my shoulder. "Lets go, Kylie. I hear the waters warm."
"Hey," Connar reached out and grabbed my other arm. "i didnt mean to be a jerk. Sorry. You seem really cool."
I shrugged. "No worries," even though my stomach was twisted up in painful knots. "Come with us."
Connar grinned and pulled off his shirt. I found myself staring at his abs. They looked like they were sculpted from a god. I looked away and slipped out of my sweats. I was wearing a plain, faded purple bikini from 9th grade. I suddenly felt self conscious.
I heard some squeals and looked out to the water. The girls were kicking franticly while the guys went under the water and popped up in different places. I saw mud from the bottom hit a guy in the back.
"C'mon Kylie!" One of the guys called out, waving me over. "The water feels great!"
"Yeah, lets go Julia and Kylie!"
I ran out and splashed into the water, laughing.
The only thing that could have made it better? Justin.
