“But, Colt
–”
“I’m paying,” I said again.
“The guy always pays on dates and
stuff.”
She looked at me weird and I realized I had just
called this a date.
“Not that this is a date! Hah! Sorry, I
didn’t mean it like that. I just meant because
guys are supposed to pay, on dates and when friends
go out. That’s just how it works. My mom always
taught me that I should pay for a girl when
we’re eating together so –” I
realized how much I was babbling and covered my
mouth.
She laughed. “Colton, calm down,” she
said, and took my hand.
We walked side-by-side to the pizza place.
Drew's Pov:
We were sitting and laughing in the pizza place,
basically having the most awesome time in the world.
We were telling each other about when we were little
kids and funny things we did.
“… and then, he had to use a hairdryer
to get the Kool-Aid dry!” he finished.
I was literally dying of laughter. That’s when
I turned, immediately getting a stony face. I
couldn’t even move.
“Drew?” Colton asked slowly.
I didn’t move.
He stood up and grabbed my shoulders, shaking them,
“Drew!”
That brought me back to reality. I looked at him and
did the best fake smile I could. I turned towards him
– and more importantly, away from that
distraction. I was not going to steal any
glances at that jerk.
“Is something wrong, Drew?” he asked.
“N-nothing,” I said. “I’m
good.”
“Yo, Drew!” called a voice.
I flinched. I really did not want to
turn around. But, of course, I had to. I turned
slowly in my seat, and came face to face with
him. Reece.
“Reece,” I said through gritted
teeth.
“Whose this?” he gestured towards
Colton.
“This is Colton,” I said, and smiled
sweetly at him. I wanted to make that jerk Reece
jealous. He needed to see what he was missing.
“Ah,” he said, acting interested.
“Anyways, I was wondering, wanna get
back together?”
