IF I LIVED THE HUNGER GAMES
CHAPTER 4: "the training room", part two
KATIA:
Oh no, that is the worst thing to hear. I got a mini heart attack just from those words. Aero pulled me away to where no one could see us, behind a list of stations for you to look at. He grabbed my hands and looked straight into my eyes.
“We can’t be together in the games.” Was all he said.
“You’re…breaking up with me? Now?” I panicked.
“What? No! no, what I meant was we can’t be physically next to one another.”
“oh, why not?”
“Because, if it come down to just the two of us…well…We can’t both win.”
“We could, we would just do as Peeta and Katniss did.”
“Word is the rules are different this year. If anyone pulls a Katniss, the capitol will do something terrible.”
“Oh…Then you’re right. No alliance then.”
Many groups end up bunking together and forming alliances until the end of the game to boost their chances of winning. But I don’t want to win. I don’t even want to make it to the last day. I don’t want to be the first to die; I at least plan to make it to day two. It was probably for the best that Aero and I weren’t together. After all, he could probably take me out in one punch.
“But I’ll be watching you from a far, and I’ll keep you out of trouble best I can.” Aero's warm smile returned.
“Okay…Wait what’s that supposed to mean?” I laughed.
“Ha-ha, nothing…” Aero giggled and walked away.
Training was over now, and tomorrow we would get our training scores. And boy did I have a plan…
