Unexpected Love
Chapter 9
He stepped towards me as I ran into his arms. “What are you doing here?” I asked as I tried pulling away he held me tighter making me laughed, “Cody.”
“Mm?”
“You know I love you and all but let go of me.”
He gave me a tight squeeze before letting go. “Need a ride?”
“No I'd rather walk in the dark.” I told him in a sarcastic way.
“If that's what you want,” He said turning around going back to his car.
“Cody no. I was kidding.” I said grabbing his hand, “I don't even know where I am.”
He laughed “you were always bad with directions. Why didn't Derick give you a ride home?” he asked sneering on his name.
Just then a car sped down the road stopped, spun around and came back towards us. This car I recognized as Derick's. He hopped out of the car and came to us. “Maggie,” he said relieved. All the pain came back when I looked into his eyes, that were the exact same as his mothers.
Cody must have saw this because he stood in front of me, blocking me from his view. “What did you do to her?” He asked angrily. His hands became fist, realizing what was about to happen I jumped in between them.
“Cody, it's nothing.” I told him.
“I saw your face, Mags. This son of a b*tch hurt you!” Cody said stepping closer, I pushed him back.
“Cody it was nothing, honestly.” I told him trying to get him to look at me but he kept his eyes on Derick.
“Maggie,” Derick said from behind me, I turned to him, “Maggie what ever I said to you, to hurt you, I'm sorry.” He said his eyes filled with sadness.
I smiled, “I know.”
“What were you guys talking about?” Cody asked annoyed.
“Nothing,” I said at the same time Derick said, “my mom.”
I felt Cody freeze behind me.“You didn't tell him?”
“Tell me what?” Derick asked looking at me confused.
“My mom...” I began looking deeply into his eyes, “she left...she went out to get something and she never came back.” I said as tears escaped from my eyes.
“Maybe she...”
“She called the next day, she said she couldn't take being a mom.” I said cutting him off, “she didn't want me.” I said completely breaking down.
And I thought to myself, no one ever did.
