Across the Pond
Chapter 2- Surprise.
We got to the dining room "fashionably late" and sat in our normal spots. Mr and Mrs. Charnin (Pronounced Shar-nin, Bridgett and Maegan's parents" sat next to mother, who sat next to Fiona who sat next to me, followed by Bridgett and Maegan. Our waiter, Troy, handed us our menus, settled us with a bread basket, and joked with me, Fi, Bridge, and Maeg. I ordered a shrimp cocktail, lobster bisque, and a seafood platter. the adults talked together and us "kids" did too. I don't understand why we can't all talk, we're gunna be neighbors in a few days. Whatever.
"OHMAHGOSH. How excited are you guys for the masquerade dance tonight?" Fiona said. "Right?! But, how will we know who the cuties are if they're in masks?" Bridgett whined. "Well, my guy is meeting me outside." Maegan bragged. She met a guy on the first night and they've been cutie ever since they realized he's going to the same school as us. It was cute at first. but lately... whatever.Maegan continued "Plus, here's a trick. All the cute guys, are great dancers." "No way." I said. "You just got that from 'Another Cinderella Story.'" Maegan laughed. "I thought it was BS when i first watched it, but when i went to parties back in Liverpool, all the cite guys were AMAZING dancers.' she said as she broke open one of her clams. I thought for a moment, Well. I do like to dance... Our dinner plates were taken away. and we waited for the dessert tray to order dessert. "Geezums.whats taking the cart so long?" Bridgett said with a mischievous smile. "I have no idea Bridge, do you Fiona?" said Maegan. "No idea! mother, do you?" Fiona giggled. "Nope, none at all!" mother laughed.
"What are you guys up to...?" I questioned. Even Mr and Mrs Charnin were smiling. "Come on gu-" as soon as I started, I heard about a dozen waiters starting to sing. "HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAY TO YOU! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU! HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR MAZZIE! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!" before I knew it, a cake with 16 candles sat in front of me. Mother was the first to speak. "Since you had to spend your birthday in court, Fi and I figured you deserved this." Her and Fi smiled. "You guys!!" I was about to cry. I love them so much.
I blew out my candles, and they took the cake away. The desert cart came, and we placed out orders. I chose a "Chocolate Lava" like most of the table. Chocolate cake with a hot chocolate sauce inside. Yummy! Desert came (each with a slice of my birthday cake with it) all the teens ate as quickly as possible. After the last adult sipped the last drop of tea, the teens darted out as fast as we could. We stopped buy our rooms to grab our masks, then it was off to the 11th floor to "Revolve", the night club that we designed to be the teen club tonight.
True to her word, Maegan's "boy toy" Mason was outside waiting for us. "Hey beautiful! he said toMaegan and kissed her softly. Maegan giggled and we followed them in. The went all out tonight. The place looked so glamorous. More beautiful then most of the parties back in London. When we walked in, the DJ was still playing set up music. and people were taking seats. We found a table for 5 and waited as Mason got us all drinks. "Isn't he the best?" Maegan sighed as she put on her mask. "Oh, he's the bees knees!" Bridgett said sarcastically. we all put on our mask. "HOW YOU ALL DOING TONIGHT?!" the DJ yelled. Everyone screamed back. "Well, lets get the party started!" he yelled. California Girls started playing out of the speakers. Me, Bridgett and Fiona headed to the dance floor while Maegan sat cuddling on Mason's lap. Of course Bridgett was the first to get a guy. soon it was just me. Oh gosh. I'm such a loner. I started to walk off the dance floor when i knocked into someone. "Oh gosh! Sorry!" I blushed. "Well. I would hope you are. Most girls get to know me before they hit me." He winked at me and laughed. "Well then, I'm Mazzie. and you are?" "Thomas. Very happy I met you Mazzie. My buddies ditched me." he laughed. "I was just about to leave." "Funny, same here!" I laughed and stared into his eyes. They were...dark green. Much darker then mine. Moment of truth. "Hey, do you wanna..." "Dance?" he finished and lead me to the middle of the dance floor. We danced for, what seemed like an hour. Oh my, he was great! We went to a table near the back to talk. "So. where you from?" he said when he came back with our drinks. I took a sip. My mouth was dry. "London. Originally. But when the ship docks, I stay in NYC." "Woah, big change. I'm from New York myself. Was in London on vacation. It's beautiful there." He smiled. "Yeah. I love my London." i sighed and took another sip of my drink. "You'll love NYC too. I promise. It's...a lot different from London, I can tell you that." We both laughed. "Where you going to school?" He asked. "Saratogo East Prep." I already memorized everything about the school. "No way! Me too!" he smiled. "Shut your mouth!" I giggled. "I swear to the big man upstairs!" he laughed back. "Well at least I'll know a guy there. I met two girls already that are transferring there as well." I said. I wanted to explode. "I'm looking forward to the school year already." He smiled. I slowly reached for my mask. My heart was pounding. This is crazy. He slowly lifted off the mask. "Woah. You're...stunning." He smiled. He leaned in. We were about to kiss. Slowly we moved closer until. "MAZZIE!" I turned my head to quick that Thomas kissed my cheek. It was Fiona. "Mazzie! Curfew!" she yelled. "And that would be my little sister." I half growled. "I need to go." "It's cool. On one condition." He said slyly. "Oh yeah? what's that?" I flirted back. "Two actually. One. Can I have your number?" he said a little shyly. "Pull up your sleeve and hold out your arm."I said and opened my clutch. "What?" "Just do it!" I smiled as i found my eye liner. "What's number two?" "Okay. Two. You have breakfast with me tomorrow before we leave the boat." He smiled. "If you don't mind being with my sister, my twin friends and one of their boys..." I said, regretting it. "Sound perfect." He smiled. I sealed my eye liner after i finished writing my number and cabin number on his forearm. "See you tomorrow morning,9am?" he smiled. "Sound great." I said and I put my mask back on. We hugged and I ran to meet up with the girls.
In the elevator, they all giggled about the night and i let the mental image of him carve into my brain, along with the writing on his forearm.
