What We Did
Mankind is dominant.
That’s what they say.
But what’s more prominent,
Is the life that we slay.
Animals were best
Before we were here.
And I suppose they guessed
That their end was near.
We cut down all their trees.
We dirtied their fresh water.
There’s trash in their seas.
What more could we slaughter?
Well, we killed and wiped them out.
We thought of them as game.
And now there’s no doubt,
That we’re the ones to blame.
The animals are bruised.
They see Mother Earth’s frown.
We are all accused
Of letting them all down.
We’re supposed to be the max.
The top of the food chain.
But the chaos in our tracks,
Makes us hang our heads in shame.
So what can we do,
To keep this from going on?
Should we release our zoo?
Erase the line we’ve drawn?
No, we could ride on a bicycle,
And finish our plates.
Reduce, reuse, recycle!
In all our 50 states!!
