Chapter 3
My Ex-Best Friend
I looked straight ahead, my mouth was in a straight line. Alyssa smiled brightly at Brandon and walked towards him. She had long, chestnut hair that came down to her lower back and big, blue eyes... In the corner of my eye I could see Brandon scanning her body with his eyes. I hate her.... I hate her! I just stared into the ocean water as Alyssa approached us. "Hi, Brandon," I heard a high-pitched voice say. I could see Brandon smiling back. No, this was not good... "Hey, Alyssa," Brandon said, "You like nice today." ... I looked down at the sand, holding back tears of anger and sadness. The anger part because my boyfriend that I absolutely loved, was checking out another girl and letting her flirt with him. The sadness part because Alyssa was my ex-best friend.... I must have been pretty upset about it because the next thing I knew, a hot tear rolled down my cheek. I quickly wiped it up before anyone could get a glimpse of it. Alyssa was now sitting next to Brandon, showing him her shark teeth she found at this beach. I shook my head slightly and stood up. "Brandon, I have to go. I'll talk to you tomorrow... I guess," I said sadly as I folded up my beach towel and put on my flip-flops. His dark green eyes stared at me as I packed up my stuff. I could tell he was a little confused, but I didn't dare to say anything more. Sand got in my flip-flops as I tried to run home... Tear drops slid down my cheeks as I ran as fast as I could to get to my safe home....
