Chapter 1
Karly Hale set in her First Class seat very squirmy. It had been over 12 years since she had been to her grandparents farm in South Dakota and she was very nervous. “What if they hate me?” was running through Karly’s mind. She picked up her Monkey sling bag, got out her laptop, and started to check her email. She had 6 emails from Abigal (Best Friend Back home in Florida.). They all said the same thing… “Dear Karl-Bells, I miss you already. Call me as soon as you get settled I have GREAT NEWS! Well email me at least once a month so I know your alive up there. ~ Your Bestie, Abby- Bell.” “Okay I’ll call you in about a hour the plain lands in 20 minutes and it shouldn’t take long to get settled.~ Karl-Bells.” ~ Karly replied. Karly put the laptop up and got ready for the landing. The plain finally landed and she got off. Karly got her luggage and went through the departure gate and to her surprise, she recognized her Tall grandfather she hadn’t seen in twelve years. She ran over to his held out arms. He picked her up and they hugged each other. He let her down 20 seconds later and grabbed one of her bags they walked out of the airport and went to the old Ford that Karly also recognized and they threw the bags in the back. They went to the farm. She takes everything upstairs to her small bedroom she had twelve years ago and unpacked in ten minutes. Then she grabbed the phone and called Abigal. They were on the phone for a hour or so. The good news was that Karly’s ex- boyfriend, Josh, (which Abigal had forgot was Karly’s ex.) had asked Abigal to be his girlfriend. Well this is great, Karly thought to her self, now I’m the only girl in the whole Dade County Middle School who doesn’t have a boyfriend. She walked down the stairs thinking she was going to help cook and have times like she did with her grandmother 12 years ago. But to her surprise she walked in the kitchen and nobody was there. “Cowbell come here.” She smiled hearing someone call her cowbell again and she went out to the patio to find her Grandpa, Nanny, and many of her cousins at a long table with dinner ready. She almost started to cry cause she hardly ever got this much attention. They ate and talked. After supper Karly and Anna (Karly’s closest cousin. Who help plan the trip.) went to ride horses so Karly had t run upstairs and get her boots and jeans on. She had six missed calls and a text from Josh but she didn’t check them. Karly and Anna walked out to the barn. Karly got an unexpected meeting. “Hi, my name is James and I’m the horse tender for your Grandparents.” “Oh So you’re the horse tender. My name is Karly.” Karly’s heart dropped a little knowing she wasn’t going to get to work with the horses but she saddled up Prince (Her Horse) and rode of with Anna anyways. “He’s cute right?” , Anna said as they were riding. Karly reply like she didn’t know who Anna was talking about, “Who?”. Anna giggled, “Jason. I know you think he’s cute.” Karly tried to hide her smile. “Maybe” she said. About 9 they took the horse back and Anna left. Karly headed in and went to her room to take a shower and get warm. After she got out of the shower and had her Plaid pajama pants and Solid blue Long sleeve t-shirt. She headed to her room to find a cup of hot chocolate and her Favorite “Cereal Straws” That had A Coating of chocolate on the inside and a not that read “Enjoy and sleep tight.” - Love Nanny. She grabbed her phone and read the text from Josh. It read: “Karly I want you back. Call me.” She laid the phone down in disbelief and sometime dosed off while watching her recorded 9 Lives of Chloe King Shows.
