An empty tub of ice cream is on the floor
next to dozens of crumpled tissues.
    She's got her music blasting
so loud no one can hear her sobs.
Her fingertips are smudged with black

    She's replaying their last conversation,

    45 things about girls ;
    1. We don't like it when you hold our hand, we ♥ it.
    2. We're not all high maintenance. Seriously, who
spends five hours getting ready every day?
    3. Cheesy and corny is adorable. Seriously.
    4. We like it if you're a dork because we are too,
so we can be dorks together :)
    5. We think you are unbelievably complicated too. Trust me.
    6. We can like blood and gore too, but even if we
aren't scared, we'll still act like we are ;)
    7. Usually "I'm fine" means "I'm not at all okay"You see, not all of
us are drama queens, so we don't want to
come off as one. Also, we don't like being vulnerable.
    8. There are some things you just shouldn't say to a girl if you are in a relationship with someone else.Like: you're beautiful, I really like talking to you,
you're amazing... need I say more?We can't help but read into these things, especially if we want more than anything for you to really mean them.
    9. If we cry in front of you, whatever happened to
us must have been really bad or have hurt us a lot.
    10. If you sing to us, even if you're not very
good at it, we're like putty in your hands. Not even joking.
    11. Don't treat us differently in front of your friends.
If they're really your friends, why would you have to act different?
    12. We like hugs. They make us feel safe.
    13. We might watch the game with you, if you watch The Notebook
[or whatever] with us. Some of us do actually enjoy watching the game with you though, so don't be too shocked if we slip on a team jersey.
    14. Sometimes when you tell us we're pretty and we fight
with you and say we're not, it's because we really don't believe that we are.
    15. You don't just date us, you date our best friend too. [As in, they're going to be around quite a bit, so you might as well try to get along with them]
    16. We love your hoodies WAY more than our own.
Mostly because they smell like you.
    17. It's not mandatory for you to text, call,
or IM first... but we really like it when you do.
    18. If you can make us laugh or smile a lot, we're practically yours already.
    19. If we smile a lot when we're around you and you ask us what we're smiling about and we say "nothing" or "no reason"... you're probably the reason.
    20. We really do dream about being kissed in the pouring rain.
    21. It really annoys us when you blame everything on pms or
say it can't be that bad. Imagine what it might feel like to
have someone punch you in the abdomen multiple times for 4-7 days. Yeah.
    22. We love getting flowers for no reason. It doesn't even have to be a whole bouquet. One flower for no reason would be just as sweet.
    23. We love your eyes.
    24. We like it when you play with our hair, so go ahead.
    25. We're never really too old for stuffed animals, especially if they're from you :)
    26. We really do like it when you open doors for us... :)
    27. When we say we're cold, that is most likely your cue to hold us.
    28. We like when guys smell good. That doesn't mean bathe in your cologne though, so please don't. You like when we smell
good without choking you, we like the same thing.
    29. We really do appreciate it when you try to cheer us up when we're feeling down about something [even if it doesn't seem like that big a deal].
We will remember and try to return the favor.
    30. If you aren't honest with us and we know it, it hurts our feelings.
    31. Words like beautiful, pretty, cute, and the like are much preferred over words like hot or sexy.
    32. It's cute when you notice our bored or nervous habits.
We notice yours too and most likely find them adorable.
    33. We like it when you kiss us on the forehead :) it's sweet.
    34. When we say we miss you, we mean it and you have no idea how much.
    35. Please, please, please don't say you love us unless you mean it.
    36. We usually text you for two reasons: We miss you or we just really
like talking to you. We don't text for for several reasons:
We want you to miss us, we're mad, or we don't want to annoy you.
    37. It really isn't mandatory for you to spend money on us. Spending time with you makes us happy. If you're dating a girl that thinks it IS mandatory that you do, you should find a new girl.
    38. Most of us would prefer actual food over a salad, so don't lose hope. haha [Seriously, who are these girls that JUST eat salads? Give me some pizza... :)]
(To clarify, I'm not talking about vegans or vegetarians or girls that genuinely like salads. I'm referring to girls who who are for some odd reason terrified to
eat in front of guys or are horrified at the amount of calories
in real food. Get what I'm sayin'? haha)
    39. We talk to our friends about you. Don't worry, it definitely
isn't always a bad thing. We talk about you so much because we like you :)
    40. If we seem to like taking pictures of/with you, it's only because we like showing you off. And maybe so we can stare at you
even when you're not around because we think you're just that cute.
    41. It isn't necessary, but if the urge strikes you to write us a love letter or a poem or even a song, go right ahead. We will LOVE it... and maybe even possibly cry :)
    42. Nice guys don't always finish last...
[If you are a nice guy and you do always seem to finish last,
I'm sorry. Some girls are just idiots and don't know what's
good for them. You deserve better anyway.]
    43. Just laying on your chest listening to your
heartbeat is the best feeling in the world<3
    44. The butterfly feeling will come even if you just send a cute text :)
    45. We're sort of scared to fell in love, but if you are a good guy it will
happen effortlessly & we couldn't be happier <3

    three strikes
    Chapter 1
    "Hey, Katie, right?"
I stared up at the six foot tall figure in front of me. He gave me a flirtatious smile, that made his sparkly brown eyes glisten.
The question was, what did someone like Jesse Collins, a notorious playboy, want from me?
"First of all, it's Kendall." I corrected. "If you want me to do your calculus homework, it's twenty bucks a piece."
    Jesse frowned. "W-what?"
"Is twenty too much? Fine, I'll lower it to fifteen, okay?" I sighed.
Jesse rapidly shook his head. "I don't want you to do my homework."
Now, it was my turn to frown. I crossed my arms, and tried to read Jesse's solid expression. "Then what do you want from me?"
Jesse bit his lower lip, looking nervous.
I almost snickered. Jesse Collins being nervous?
What has the world gotten into?!
"Could you hurry up a bit? I don't have all day here." I snapped.
I saw Jesse swallow a lump in his throat.
Oh, God. Whatever he wanted from me was not going to be good.
"Kat- I mean, Kendall. I-I need a favor." he said.
I nodded, signaling for him to stop wasting my time by stuttering and stopping every minute.
"I know this is a lot to ask for, b-but..." he took in a deep breath. "Could you be my girlfriend?"
I choked on my own saliva, as water filled my eyes.
Then, I burst into hysterical laughter.
Great, yet another prank by those dumb, blonde cheerleaders.
When were they going to give up their child's play?
"Funny, Jesse. Tell those dumb bimbo's of yours that I am not falling for this." I said.
And with that, I turned on my heel, and began walking away.
"Wait, Kendall! I'm serious!" Jesse called out.
I stopped in my tracks, and turned to glare at him with my icy blue eyes.
"What makes you think I'm believe you out of all people?" I snapped. "I mean, no offense, but you tell all the girls you supposedly 'love' them, and then break their hearts after you get in their pants!"
Jesse seemed taken aback for a minute. But, he regained posture not too soon later.
"I lost a bet, and my friend told me I had to try to make the biggest loner in our school fall in love with me." Jesse explained.
I scoffed. "So you picked me?"
"Yes." Jesse said, oblivious to my anger.
I smirked. I decided that I was going to play with him, for now.
"And, what happens if you don't me to fall in love with you?" I asked, walking closer to him.
Jesse seemed startled. "T-then I have to give him my Ferrari."
I nodded, playing along. "What do I get out of it, if I pretend to fall for you?"
"Anything. I'm willing to pay." Jesse stated.
My smile widened. "Then, Jesse Collins, you have yourself a deal."
    Jesse's face brightened. "R-really?"
    I nodded. "Really."
"Let's start tomorrow, okay?" he said.
"You got it, but I want my money, every week on Friday."
"Yeah, is a thousand good?" he asked.
I grinned. "A thousand a week is perfect."
"Great, thanks, Katie! I'll see you tomorrow." Jesse smiled, showing off his pearly whites.
"It's Kendall." I gritted, even though he was too far away to hear.
I took in a deep breath. A thousand dollars a week was just what I needed.
Oh, and Jesse? Three Strikes and you're out.
It's a boring start, but it will progress.
Thanks for reading, and give me some feedback (:

    Chapter 53
I stared at the reflection one last time in the three sided mirror.
My hair was pinned in an elegant up do with a sparkly tiara on top.
My makeup was simple, but it still made me look flawless.
And best of all, my wedding dress.
It was wrapped near the top portion, with crystals embodied from the waist up, and it flowed and cascaded towards the bottom.
    http://www.magdalenaduhagon.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/simple-strapless-wedding-dress.jpg
"Carson, are you ready? The ceremony is about to start!" my mother called out.
"I'm coming." I said, smiling one last time in the mirror.
I exited out of the dressing room, and got into my position.
I held the assortment of pink and yellow bouquet of flowers in my hands firmly, as they started shaking from anxiousness.
The curtains rose in front of me, exposing a crowd of people sitting in rows, all facing me.
Instead of having a traditional wedding in a church, Brett and I both agreed on holding the ceremony at a rose garden, instead.
I smiled, as I was extremely satisfied with how the rose garden looked.
White fences surrounded the area, which were covered in red and pink roses.
The stage was decorated with a variety of bright, colorful roses.
The podium, where the priest stood waiting, was draped in fresh flowers, and yellow and pink ribbons.
The white, grand piano started playing, as I took in a deep breath.
My uncle Tom walked me down the white carpet, covered in assortments of pink and red roses.
"Ready, kid?" he whispered in my ear.
I fought the urge to bite my lip, since I have found it a habit.
"I wish my dad was here." I whispered back.
"Carson, he's looking down at you now, and he's proud." my uncle Tom assured.
I nodded as we both walked in a steady pace down the white carpet.
I smiled at Brett, as I came face to face with him.
He was wearing a classic black suit, white buttoned down shirt under, and a black bow tie.
I couldn't help but notice how amazing he looked.
To his right were his grooms men, Tyson, Craig and Riley. They were all dressed in the same outfits as Brett, except they all had matching red ties.
To the left were my bridesmaids, Kristina, Cassie, and an old friend, Lila. They all looked beautiful in matching creamy pink, knee length dresses.
"You look gorgeous, Carson." Brett whispered.
I blushed. Yes, even though I'm a grown, 23 year old woman, I still blush.
    The priest began to speak.
Honestly, I would've cut him in on his very first two words, because long speeches just didn't make me awake for too long.
Brett noticed my bored expression, and lightly chuckled.
"It's going to be over soon, and we can be together, forever." he whispered.
    "That sounds great." I smiled.
A good fifteen minutes later, the priest finally asked Brett the question that everyone's been waiting to hear.
Brett took in a deep breath, and let it out.
His blue eyes, which I always loved, glistened. "I do."
I felt my heart skipping a beat.
The priest then glanced over at me, and asked me the life changing question.
I looked up at Brett, who seemed so sure of this decision.
    He really did love me.
    "I do." I smiled.
The whole crowd stood up, as they erupted into cheers.
"You may now kiss the bride." the priest instructed Brett.
Brett, without hesitation, leaned in, and gave me a long peck on the lips.
    This was it.
Brett was mine until the day I die.
    And, you know what?
    I'm going to love it.
    The End.

    Chapter 52
    Five Years Later
(Carson is 23, and graduated from university.)
II I stared at the dark hallway of the antique boutique, and walked further down.
I reached the back, as a woman in her late sixties stared up at me with grey, piercing eyes.
She had a black cape draping over her shoulders, and a pair of glasses that reached down to her nose.
I took a deep breath, and boldly began speaking.
"H-hi, I'm Carson. I'm not sure if you remember me, but-"
The old woman's lips curved into a grin, as she nodded, with her grey curls bouncing up and down.
"Carson, darling. You came here five years ago, am I correct?" she asked, raising her eyebrows.
I bit my lower lip, and nodded.
"Come, sweetheart. Sit down." she said, pointing to the purple cushion across from her.
"Now, you promised me you would come back when you found love. So, have you?" the fortune teller asked.
I bit the insides of my cheeks from smiling too widely.
    "I have." I nodded.
The old fortune teller's eyes lit up, as she nodded, pleasingly. "Sweetie, what did I tell you? Give me the details."
I took in a deep breath, and heavily releasing it all out before starting.
"H-his name is Brett. We met five years ago, when I was a freshman in university."
I continued to tell her basically my love story, until I ran out of breath.
"And, we're getting married in a month." I finished.
The old woman's eyes widened, as they glistened with joy.
"Oh, darling! Congratulations!" she gushed, placing her bony, wrinkled hands on top of mine.
"Thank you." I smiled. "I came here to give you this."
I reached in my cream, leather purse, and snatched out a creamy pink envelope.
I proudly handed it to her, as she took it from my hands.
Her hands trembled as she held it.
    "W-what is this?" she asked.
"A wedding invitation. You're invited." I explained. "Will you come?"
The old woman seemed hesitant, but she nodded.
    "I would be honored to."
    ***
    -1 month later.-
I smiled, as I rolled over on my bed, staring at Brett's soft, accentuated features in the morning sunlight.
I bent over, and pressed my lips against his warm cheek.
His eyes began to open, but I quickly clamped my hands over them.
As much as I wanted to see his beautiful, blue eyes, I couldn't.
"C-Carson? Is that you?" he asked, sounding tired.
"Yes, Brett. It's me." I playfully said.
"Why are your hands covering my eyes? I want to see you." he chuckled, trying to remove my hands.
That only caused me to tighten my grip.
"Brett, isn't it bad luck for the groom to see the bride before the wedding?" I asked.
My question only caused Brett to laugh even harder.
"W-where did you get t-that from?" he choked out.
    I blushed. "Everyone says that."
"Well, isn't it a bit cliche?" Brett asked.
    "Well,-"
"Carson, get your hands off of my face so I can kiss you." Brett firmly said.
"Only if you promise to keep your eyes closed."
    Brett sighed. "I promise."
I slowly removed my hands away from Brett's eyes.
"Okay, don't open your eyes." I instructed.
Brett nodded, as I leaned close to his face, and pressed my lips against his.
"Are you happy now?" I asked.
"Partially. I still didn't get to see your gorgeous face, yet."
My face flustered. "Shut it, Brett."
    "It's true."
I smiled. "I should get going now, to get to my mom's house. I need to get ready."

    Chapter 51
I stared straight ahead of me, knowing there were crowds of people ahead of me.
But, I couldn't see anyone, or anything, but Brett.
His oceanic blue eyes were glued to mine.
I bit my lip, and began running.
I ran straight towards him, and leaped in his arms, clutching on his built chest tightly.
Tears flowed from my eyes uncontrollably, as my tears left wet stains on Brett's t-shirt.
"Carson." he whispered, pulling my head away from him.
"Brett, I-I just wanted to say bye." I said, breathlessly.
Brett bit his lower lip, which just made me miss his soft lips even more.
    "Carson, I-"
Before he got to finish, a voice boomed the entire room through an intercom.
"The 12:10 flight to JFK will be boarding momentarily. Passengers for group one please start gathering in line. Thank you."
I shut my eyes tightly, recieving an aching feeling in my heart.
"Carson, I wanted to tell you something a long time ago. I just didn't know how to say it to you." Brett continued.
    I nodded. "Tell me, Brett."
He seemed startled, almost nervous. "Carson, I-I'm not returning to Brown next semester."
A tear rolled down my cheek, as I took the back of my hand, and wiped it away bravely.
    "W-what? Why not?" I asked.
Brett took in a deep breath, and letting it out heavily. "I got accepted into Columbia in New York."
"S-so I won't be able to see you anymore?" I choked out.
He shook his head, with a painful expression spreading across his face.
"Promise me, Carson, that you'll always love me somewhere in your heart. But, you have to let go of me. You deserve someone better." Brett said, holding my hands.
    "B-but I love you." I cried.
"I love you, too." Brett said.
I opened my mouth to say something, but I was interrupted by a chirpy voice.
"Oh, hey, Carson! When did you get here?" Angela asked, as Brett immediately dropped my hands.
I watched painfully as Angela wrapped her arms around Brett's biceps, and batting her eyelashes at him.
"Just a minute ago, to say bye." I lied.
"The 12:10 to JFK is now ready for boarding. Passengers in group one can now prepare for boarding." the intercom said.
"Oh! We're group one! We should be going now, Brett." Angela smiled.
"Yeah, we should." Brett said in a low voice.
"Bye, Carson! It was great meeting you!" Angela squealed, wrapping her arms around me for a tight embrace.
    "Yeah, same here." I whispered.
Brett studied my emotionless, tear stained face.
"Hey, Angie, you go without me. I'm going to board in five minutes, okay?" Brett said.
Angela looked skeptical, and glanced over at me. "Fine." she pouted.
    She disappeared through the terminal.
I swallowed the lump in my throat, and forced myself to look at Brett.
After all, this may be the last time I ever got to look in his beautiful, blue eyes.
"I'm going to miss you, Carson. And whenever you want to think of me, just look at the necklace, okay?" Brett assured.
I nodded, forcing back heavy tears. "I'm going to miss you, too, Brett."
Brett sighed. "I should go now. Bye, Carson."
I bit my lips, and unwillingly nodded. "Bye, Brett."
Brett looked at me one last time before turning away.
He walked to the line of people boarding the plane.
Just as he was about to give the ticket to the lady, he surprisingly turned back around.
He paused for a minute, before running back in my arms.
His body weight crashed upon mine, as he cupped my face.
He bought his force, and pulled myself towards him.
My lips crashed upon his, as the world seemed unconscious to me.
My legs started going weak, as the kiss deepened.
We finally pulled away, gasping for air.
"I just wanted to remind you that I love you, no matter what." Brett explained.
I blushed, and nodded. "I love you, no matter what, too."
He pecked my cheek one last time, before returning back to hand the ticket to the lady.
I clutched onto the necklace he gave me, as I watched as he went through the terminal.

    Chapter 49
I approached them, and waved to the five year old girl with radiant blonde hair in two braids.
"Hi!" she chirped as she saw me.
    "Hey, sweetie." I smiled.
Brett leaned over to whispering something in the little girl's ear, as she turned to me with glistening eyes, and giggled softly.
"She's really pretty, Brett." the little girl smiled, with her front tooth missing.
    "I know." Brett quietly muttered.
Suddenly, the little girl smiled widely, as she jumped in the air several times, as if she was on a sugar rush.
I watched as the stuffed unicorn in her hand bounce up and down with her.
"Ooh! Brett, is this your girlfriend?" she excitedly said.
I felt my eyes widened, as my cheeks flustered.
What was Brett going to say to that?
I obviously wanted the answer to be yes, but him and I both knew well that Angela was his girlfriend, not me.
Brett bent over, yet again, to whisper something in her ear.
After a minute, he leaned away, putting his fingers to his lips.
    "Shh." Brett smiled.
The little girl's big, innocent eyes turned wide, as she nodded.
"I pinky promise I won't tell." she said, extending her pinky out.
Brett's long, lean pinky extended with hers, as they shook their pinky's.
"Ooh look! It's Johnny! Don't tell him, but I think I like him!" the little girl squealed, looking over my shoulder at a blonde boy with a buzz-cut.
"Alright, Danielle. Have fun with Johnny." Brett encouraged.
Danielle giggled, as she hugged my leg, before running off to Johnny.
I smiled. If only the sweet, little girl knew that love never lasted.
She would learn, once she grew up.
"She's cute, isn't she?" Brett asked, as we started walking along the boardwalk.
"She is." I admitted. "Hey, what did you tell her?"
    Brett smirked. "Tell her what?"
"You know, the 'pinky promise' thing? Tell me!" I demanded.
    "Carson, it's nothing." he assured.
"It doesn't seem like nothing." I said, crossing my arms like a stubborn child.
He chuckled lightly. "Really, Carson. It's nothing."
I raised my eyebrow, not believing him at all.
"Well, at least it's nothing that you'd ever care about." he finished.
A gasp escaped my lips, as I glanced over at Brett's amused expression.
"A-and what do you mean by that?" I asked.
"Oh, hey, look!" Brett said, pointing to a big, brown teddy bear. "I'm going to try to win that for Angela."
And for once, I didn't argue with him.
Because, maybe, just maybe, I didn't want to know the truth, since it might hurt me in the long run.
    ***
"For me?! Oh my gosh, Brett, thank you so, so much!" Angela exclaimed, as she hugged the brown teddy bear ferociously.
"You guys went to the carnival?" Kristina asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Yeah. Angie, I knew your favorite animal was a bear." Brett smiled, kissing her cheek.
I winced, as his lips touched her face.
"Aw, babe! That's so sweet of you to think of me when you were hanging out with Carson." she icily said, but still smiling.
Brett seemed startled, but he awkwardly nodded.
"Uh, yeah, because you're always on my mind." Brett said, but it came out more like a question.
    I almost snickered.

    Chapter 48
After eating our frozen yogurts, Brett and I wandered around Santa Monica.
It was getting late, and the sky was turning pink and orange.
We found ourselves walking on the Santa Monica boardwalk, which was starting to crowd with a massive amount of people.
I stopped by a cotton candy stand, and handed the man some money, as he gave me a mixture of pink and blue fluff.
"Want?" I asked Brett, already taking a bite.
Brett's lips turned into a curve, as he shook his head in disapproval.
"Oh, Carson. You're just way you were seven months ago." he teased.
I frowned in confusion, knitting my eyebrows together.
"How?" I managed to say, while the cotton candy melted in my mouth.
"You loved junk food back then, and you love junk food now." he smirked, peeling a sheet of blue cotton candy, and seductively pushed it in his mouth.
My mouth watered, as I tried to get the funny feeling out of my system.
My heart was racing. No, Brett could not make me feel this way, again.
"Do you want to go on the roller coaster?" Brett asked, staring at the ride above us.
I stared above with him, and saw the roller coaster going in massive loops rapidly.
    My stomach turned.
I had never been a big fan of roller coasters.
"Carson? Do you want to?" Brett repeated.
    "Uh, I, um. I-I-"
"Carson, if you don't want to, just say so."
I bit my lip. I didn't want to seem weak in front of him!
Before I could stop myself, I said, "I'll go."
We went in the short line towards the roller coaster, and soon enough, we were strapped in.
Panic started to come over me.
What if the roller coaster fell?
    What if we die?!
Brett must've noticed my shakiness, because he smiled.
"Carson, there's nothing to worry about. Close your eyes, and think of something that makes you happy." he advised.
I breathed deeply, as I shut my eyes tightly.
The first thing that came in my mind was a gorgeous face, with sleek black hair and piercing blue eyes.
    Brett.
I felt the cart moving, as I forced myself not to peer out of my eyelids.
My hands started trembling, as the roller coaster moved quicker and quicker by the second.
Suddenly, I felt a pair of hands squeeze my palms.
My eyes snapped up, as I stared at the ground below me.
    I was so far up!
Then, I looked by my side.
Brett's hand was locked in mine, as he was smiling at me gently.
Relief filled in me, as the roller coaster didn't seem so scary anymore.
It was over before we knew it, and the employees came around to unbuckle us.
The employee in a tacky red and yellow shirt came to Brett and I, and raised his eyebrow.
"Uh, sir. I need to unbuckle you." he said to the both of us, pointing to our hands.
I blushed, as I quickly snatched my hand away from Brett's.
"Oh, sorry." I muttered, looking away.
The employee quietly chuckled, as he lifted the bar over my head, as I jumped out.
Brett and I exited the ride in silence.
I was still getting use to the fact that my hand was so comfortable and safe in his.
    "Cute." Brett suddenly said.
My eyes suddenly shifted over to what he was looking at.
Was it a cute girl? Why was I being so envious?!
I looked closely, and in fact, it was a cute girl.
A cute, adorable, five year old girl, holding a massive unicorn stuffed animal.
Brett started approaching her before I stopped him.

Chapter 47 (The last one was meant to be 46.)
I woke up the next morning, and took a quick shower, throwing on a floral romper.

I walked my way to the kitchen, and in the process, I bumped into someone.
    "Oh, sorry!" Angela screamed.
    "It's fine. Hey, where's everyone?" I asked.
"Oh, Tyson and Kristina went out to Los Angeles on a date or whatever. I got sick so Brett stayed with me." Angela explained.
I nodded. Why hadn't Kristina told me anything about this?
"Oh, well, I think I'm going to go out, too." I said, taking a pair of keys off of the counter.
"Where?" Angela asked, sniffling her nose.
    "Santa Monica."
"Santa Monica? Can I come?" Brett suddenly asked, appearing in the kitchen.
"You should stay with Angela." I said.
A flash of hurt ran across his eyes, but it quickly went away.
"No, Angie doesn't mind, does she?" Brett asked, wrapping his arm around her, the way he use to hold me.
"But Brett! You said you were going to watch The Hills reruns with me." Angela whined, pouting her rosy pink lips.
I raised my eyebrows. "No, it's okay, Brett. I could go alone."
"No, I wouldn't want you to get hurt." he blurted out.
Since when did he start caring, again?
I could feel Angela's curious eves wandering back and forth between Brett and I.
I bit my lip. "You really should get approval from Angela."
"Angie? Please? I'll watch The Hills with you some other time." Brett pleaded.
Angela looked skeptical, but nodded. She coughed.
    "Fine, Bretty-poo. Love you!"
Both Angela and I waited for Brett to tell her he loved her, too.
    But, he never did.
    "Your driving?" he asked.
"Yes, I grew up here." I said.
I saw his eyes traveling down to my neck, looking at the necklace he gave me last night.
When he saw me looking at him, he quickly looked away.
I started driving the route to Santa Monica.
The only reason why I wanted to go was to meet with the fortune teller again.
I needed that old lady's advice right now, because I was so confused.
But, I guess I couldn't go now, since Brett was with me.
He would think I'm psychotic for getting advice from a fortune teller.
I parked the car in a parking garage.
We started walking down the beautiful area of Santa Monica.
"Did you eat yet?" I asked.
    "Nope."
    "Are you hungry?"
    "Are you?" he asked.
I sighed. Typical Brett, he hadn't changed a bit.
    "Yes." I admitted.
He nodded, as we walked in a frozen yogurt place.
It was one of those places where you could get anything you wanted, and paid for the amount you got.
Brett and I both grabbed the large cup at the same time. Our hands grabbed the same cup, as our fingers brushed.
I immediately snatched my hand back.
My face flustered, as I refused to look him in the eye.
    "S-sorry." I stuttered.
I heard him lightly chuckle, as he handed me a cup.
My trembling hands took it, and muttered, "Thanks."
We went over to the handles of frozen yogurt.
I trotted over to the strawberry frozen yogurt handle, but Brett's hand grabbed it before I did.
So, my hand went on top of his.
I blushed, yet again, and took my hand back.
"Now you're just doing it on purpose." I softly said.
Brett grinned, and shook his head, while pressing on the handle.
"Nope. I like strawberry." he smirked.
"No! Your favorite is mango." I corrected.
Brett's eyes glistened. "I'm glad you remembered."

    Chapter 45
After what seemed like centuries of me moping outside on the balcony, I decided to come back inside.
I found the television playing the Hangover, but everyone was scattered on the floor sleeping.
Kristina was comfortably cuddling in Tyson's arms, and Angela was lying on the floor.
But, I noticed that Brett was no where in sight.
He was probably sleeping in one of the guestrooms of this penthouse.
I decided to take a warm shower, I really needed one to clear out my thoughts.
I stripped out of my clothes, and let the cold, icy water splash against my skin.
It was so painful, but refreshing at the same time.
The water was washing my tears away.
After half an hour of clearing out my painful thoughts in the shower, I stepped out.
I wrapped a towel around myself, and sneakily crept into an empty guestroom that I put my clothes in.
I found my tote bag in the corner of the room, and dropped my towel.
I fumbled through the bag, but I heard a noise.
My head snapped up, as I paused.
It definitely wasn't me going through my bag.
Someone was in the room with me.
My hands trembled, as I grabbed my fluffy, baby blue towel off the floor, and wrapped it around me for security.
I quickly dug in my bag, desperate to find myself my flannel plaid pajama pants, and a white tank.
Ugh, where was it?! It was times like these where I needed my pajamas the most!
"A-Angela? Is that you?" Brett's husky voice asked.
My eyes grew wide in the dark.
Brett was the one in here?
Oh God, this couldn't turn out good.
I heard someone getting up, and pacing around the room.
No! No! Don't turn on the lights!
A split second later, the lights flickered on, and I stared at Brett.
    He was rubbing his eyes.
I probably woke him up when I came inside.
Panic filled me, as his eyes met mine.
Curse myself for only being in a towel.
"Um, I, uh kind of had my, um, stuff in here." I hesitantly explained, pointing to my tote bag.
Brett stared at me with an emotionless stare.
I blushed from embarrassment, and turned back around to my tote bag, shaking my hands as I dug through my bag.
I reached down, and finally grabbed my underwear, bra, tank top, and pajama pants.
I cursed under my breath. Now they decide to suddenly appear.
"Could you, maybe close your eyes or something?" I asked.
I didn't want to risk letting anyone see me in just a towel, it would bring me to shame.
I knew it was pretty much pathetic asking Brett to close his eyes while I changed.
He didn't reply, so I took it as a no.
"Okay, then I guess I'm just going to-"
Brett stared at me one more time, before stepping out of the room, closing the door behind him.
I let out of the breath that I was holding in for a while.
Only Brett could make me feel so breathless.
I quickly dropped my towel, and threw on my clothes.
I took my tote bag with me and my towel.
Well, there was no use in sleeping in that room tonight.
When I stepped out, I found Brett patiently sitting on the floor, with his knees up against his chest.
"Thanks." I muttered before walking past him.
I decided the best thing for me to do without making anything awkward was to crash on the hammock that was by the pool outside.
I snatched a fluffy blanket out of a storage room, and pondered outside.
The bright blue pool seemed brighter in the dark, since there were lights installed in the pool to making things safer.
I sat on the white knitted hammock, which there was a tent above it.
I positioned myself to the side, and pulled the blanket up to my neck.
    I closed my eyes tightly.
A tear slipped from my eyes, as I controlled myself from not panting too loudly.
