    Chapter 4
The last bell had rung and I started my way home.
I decided to walk home today.
I didn’t have much books and it was the perfect in-between weather that I loved.
I readjusted my books so they didn’t rub against my healing scars.
Jason asked about them once, but when I started to get nervous and scared, he comforted me and told me I would never have to worry about it again.
We never talked about it since then.
I felt ashamed, and almost dirty, whenever I thought about what I had done.
So I try not to remember that time.
When I arrived home, I headed u to my room and threw my book on my bed. I walked over to my bathroom and studied myself, trying to decide what to wear tonight.
I heard my phone vibrate on the counter and read the text I had received from Jason.
“come to my house at 6 J”
I replied and then turned back to the mirror.
That gave me exactly two and a half hours, plenty of time.
I took a quick shower, just long enough to shave, wash my hair and face and think for a little.
When I got out I squeezed water out of my hair and then parted it down the middle.
I French braided each side, knowing that after I blow-dried it in a few minutes, it would come out in perfect crimps.
I walked over to my closet and found the most perfect thing to wear.
A new redish pink sun dress I had just bought.
It was still summery, and perfect for mid-September weather.
    ( Valerie’s Dress: http://www.ae.com/web/browse/product.jsp?productId=1396_9095_615&catId=cat1320034)
I put on my light gray ballet flats and matching cropped cardigan.
I wasn’t sure why, but I was a little self-concious whenever I walked into Jason’s house in spaghetti straps or short shorts.
I knew his parents liked me, they were just a little more conservative.
It was odd, though, because Jason wasn’t.
I let my thouhgts ramble on as I dried my braids.
I checked the clock, already 5:30.
I felt my braids and they felt almost dry, so I untied the elastics and pulled them apart around my face.
I clipped the fron pieces back along with my bangs and headed downstairs.
I looked at myself in the mirror as I walked down the hall.
    I really felt beautiful.
After I had stopped hurting myself and looked at the positive things in my life, I had an all-over better attitude, I thought better about myself and had more self-confidence.
    I was an amazing feeling.
I found yet another note on the counter saying why my mom wasn’t home.
I crumpled it up and threw it out.
I grabbed my purse that I had put a few of my things in and headed out to Jason’s.

    Chapter 31
    August 19.
    That was the date.
There was two weeks until school and all I felt like doing was dying.
    August 19.
    Amanda was coming home today.
She was having everyone over her house for her own “welcome back” party.
    August 19.
Two weeks and a day since I had last seen, heard, and talked to Jason.
Maybe he needed some space to think things over.
I would never try to hurt him like that, he had to believe me.
I had tried to text and call him but all I ended up with were his voicemail and unanswered conversation.
    I did feel guilty.
Because I should have told Jason about the bet, but I figured it had meant nothing!
I had told Amanda I was finished with it, and whether she liked it or not I was done.
But maybe they had all plotted this against me, tried to cause me pain like I had apparently cause Stacy.
I was surprised when Amanda invited me to her party, and when I had received the text my first instinct was to text back yes.
But then I decided against it.
Stacy would be there, she ruined everything for me, Abigail turned Stacy against me by lying, Lizzie didn’t know who to side with, and who knows what Brian would have done.
    So I didn’t answer her.
I expected today to be like any other day, sit around, watch TV, and eat.
I wanted so badly to walk down the street, knock on Jason’s door, and talk to him like nothing had happened.
    But it had.
    I had ruined everything.
Everything that made me happy in life.
I couldn’t stop going over the words in my head; I think I’m falling for you.
    Was it still true now?
But the part that kills me the most, the part that hit me like a brick wall, was that,
I think I was in love with him, too.

    City Boy.
    Chapter 23
    -2 weeks later-
Grace and I hadn’t had an actual conversation in quite some time.
She hurt me, and there just wasn’t enough strength in me to get over it.
Usually I hurt the girls; they sit there and cry over me.
    Now it’s the opposite way.
On the other hand, she seemed happier.
The way that Grace was smiling now and going out with her friends all the time.
Me on the other hand was teaching her little brother about ‘how to be a man.’
“So when I grow up am I going to have to dress like you?” Lucas said in a negative tone.
“Well no, but if you move to the city I’d advise you too.”
He gave me this curious look.
As though I had a secret of some sort.
“Does my older sister have cooties? Or do those go into the sky and rain only on girls in my school?”
This sentence made me give a loud chuckle.
“Unfortunately, that statement is true lad.”
“Why does Grace look at you funny?”
How did this conversation end up about her?
That’s the last thing in the world I wanted to talk about.
    “Like what?”
“Well she looks like she just ate a birthday cake all by herself and a sodapop!”
    Boy, was he so naive.
“Listen kid, your sister doesn’t want anything to do with me; so let’s just drop the subject.”
He looked at me with those big brown eyes like Grace’s.
Man, I was a sucker for brown eyes.
“I’m sorry Lucas, I’m just frustrated.”
“Don’t worry; she likes you almost more than I like the Power-Rangers. And that’s a lot.”
    “How do you know this?”
His hand waved to come closer to him.
He cuffed his hands around my ear preparing himself to tell a major secret.
“I read her diary” Lucas said in a low whisper, “But don’t tell my mom, she’ll take away my train set.”
I pretend to give him a shocked look.
“I wouldn’t dare to tell anyone bud.”
Just like that, discovering Grace maybe was faking this whole time.
    Maybe she misses me?
Maybe she regrets hurting our friendship.
But then again, maybe she wasn’t.
*as you can tell I’m losing interest in this story. But I’ll keep it going for you guys!

How to Make a Girl Fall in Love
    Chapter 6. Secrets
The kids all came in and put alot more than just orange juice on the table. I decided to take a walk around the beach- I wasn't really that hungry. I took a deep breath as my feet came in contact with the warm sand.
"BABY!" I heard someone yell behind me. I could pick out that voice anywhere. I turned around and saw Dalton jogging through the backyard to me.
"I saw you walk out. You okay?" He smiled his childish smile. I gave him a reassuring smile,
"Yeah I'm fine..." He tilted his head, watching me intently.
"Did Kendall say something to you? She seemed extra 'excited'" He asked, quoting "excited" with his fingers.
"Well...she told me that I shouldnt be here.. I don't know what that means.." I trailed off, kicking some sand into a pile with my feet. I looked up at Dalton, who was looking at the sand with a confused look.
"Uhh..yeah..I'm not sure what she's talking about.." We stood in silence for acouple seconds before he nudged my arm.
"C'mon, race you inside!" He flashed a smile before dashing off the beach. I rolled my eyes and jogged behind him.
    ...
“Lexi! You went last the other night. You go first now.” I sighed, trying to decide between picking truth or dare. I chickened out and picked truth again. Josh was asking me. He thought for a moment before I spoke
“Its an easy one, remember.” I said, hoping he wouldn’t ask for anything embarrassing.
“Fine..umm.. When’s your birthday?” He finally asked. It was an easy question, but I still didn’t want to answer it.
“Uhhh…December…umm…fifteenth?” I said, which sounded more like a question than an answer. I mentally slapped myself for sounding like I didn’t know my birthday. They’ll know I’m lying.
“You sure about that?” Luke chuckled, wrapping his arm around my waist.
I felt myself blushing, like I always do when I lie.
“Yeaahh…” I said, trying to cover my blush.
“Really, when’s your birthday? I picked an easy one for you.” Josh said.
    I sighed.
    “Tomorrow..”
    Everyone’s faces lit up.
“Tomorrow?!” Rachel asked incredulously. I nodded.
“But I don’t want anyone doing anything for it. Okay?” I said, scanning everyone’s faces. I ended on Luke, who was giving Dalton a mischievous look. I nudged him in the stomach.
“Okay??” I repeated. He smirked, looking at Dalton once more.
    “Okay. No celebration.”
And so we continued the game.

How to Make a Girl Fall in Love
    Chapter 6. Secrets
I woke up panting, as I sat up and looked around the room. I squinted my eyes at the sunlight that was spilling out from between the curtains. It was just a dream. I’d been having almost the exact same dream on and off for years now, and it still woke me up screaming some nights.
I shuddered at the thought, the vividness of the dream flashing in my head. I pushed the thoughts out of my head the best I could, flipping the wrinkled sheets off of my legs.
I sleepily walked through the hallway, peering into a couple rooms. Nobody was around. They must all be in the kitchen..
I stepped into the kitchen, taking in a sharp breath at the coldness of the tiles on my feet. I looked around the room, and out the front window. Kellen’s car was missing too. Where was everyone?
As if on cue, a girl’s voice answered, “Everyone went out to get orange juice.” I jumped, spinning on my heels. I didn’t hear anyone in the living room.
“Oh..okay..h-hi.” I said, to Kendall, still startled. She looked at me with the same blank expression she had around me since we met, ignoring my greeting. I awkwardly looked around the room and back at Kendall, who had her gaze fixed on me.
“I’m uhh…gonna go get changed..” I said, quickly turning and making my way back to the bedroom. Why did she make me so uncomfortable?
I walked back into the kitchen wearing blue denim shorts and a flowing beige tank top, a long heart necklace hanging around my neck. I left my hair natural, since it was pretty straight. It was a little after 12:00. I grabbed a pop tart out of a box on the counter and walked into the living room, where Kendall was watching tv. I hopped down the little ledge into the room, and Kendall looked me up and down, giving me a funny look.
“What?” I asked, consciously looking over my outfit. She continued giving me that look until she looked up at my face, and faked a smile.
“Nothing!” She said, crossing her legs and looking at her phone. We sat in silence for around 10 painful minutes. Does she hate me? What did I ever do to her?
“Did I make you mad or something?” I blurted out, regretting it as soon as I said it.
Kendall giggled, running a hand through her long hair.
“Not really. But lemme just tell you that you shouldn’t be here.” She smiled sweetly at me, which made me angry.
“Why not? They’re my friends too. I didn’t do anything bad to you.” I said quickly, staring at her.
    “Well…the thing is that-“
“WE’RE BAAAACCKK!” Someone yelled from the front door. Kendall didn’t finish her sentence.
“In hereee!” Kendall sang. I gave her an angry/confused look, and she just smiled, jumping up and skipping to the kitchen. Why wasn’t I supposed to be here?!

How to Make a Girl Fall in Love
Chapter 5. (Part 2) Truth or Dare.
It was nearly 10 o'clock when we began to head inside, quietly chattering as we filed into the kitchen. Everyone hung their towels up on chairs, changed, and scattered into their bedrooms. I said goodnight to everyone and moved down the hallway to my room.
I quietly opened my door to see Luke laying on his bed staring at the ceiling. He didn't notice me come in, so I crept up and put my hands on his eyes, ruffling his hair. He grunted with surprise when my hands came in contact to his face, and tried to move away from me, but couldnt. Finally, I let go of him and looked at him, giggling. He looked at me, his eyes wide, then narrowed at me, smirking.
"Nobody. Noooobody. Messes up my hair and gets away with it!" He said evilly, quickly swinging his legs off the bed. I laughed and sprinted over to the closet on the other side of the room, and said
"Awwww dont be such a girll!".
I threw my hand on the handle and swung the door open. As soon as I was about to step in i felt Luke's arm around my waist, lifting me and and flinging me onto my bed. Before I could get up I felt Luke's body heat hovering over me. He spoke in a low tone, "What'd you sayy?" His face was just inches from mine, getting closer by the second. I tried not to ger caught up in it, and said
"I said you shouldnt be-" I choked on my words, bursting into laughter.
"Luke! S-stop! I c-cant breath!" I laughed, trying to stop his hands from squeezing my sides. He chuckled,
"What did you say about me? I didn't quite hear that." He continued tickling me, as I continued squirming uncontrollably under him.
"Nothing! N-nothing! I p-promise! Stopp!" I panted, as he moved his hands from my stomach and placed them on both sides of my head. He leaned closer to my face. I could feel his breath on my face. I picked up my head alittle, closing my eyes. I waited for our lips to touch...sooo closee...
"Go to sleep Lex." He chuckled, pushing off my bed and walking to his. I sighed, feeling the adrenaline die down, and slipped under the white sheets.
Did I want to kiss him? More importantly, did he want to kiss me? Was he even going to? I turned to my side and was asleep in a matter of seconds.
'I woke up that night to hear my father and an unfamiliar voice screaming. My older sister, Klara, padded out of the room and down the stairs, not seeming to be worried at all. Her lifeguard sweatshirt swayed around her legs as she walked, as it was too big for her. She was a champion swimmer, and a lifeguard at the local pool. I winced and cuddled closer into my blankets. Suddenly I heard a gunshot...then another...and I heard Klara screaming. Then it was quiet. I cried quietly, hoping it was all a dream. After a while, I crept out of my covers and tip toed downstairs. I saw my mother and father, laying in a pool of red liquid..and Klara was gone.'

    Chapter 7
I gazed at the cup of hot chocolate that stood in front of me.
I stuck the thin straw right through the whipped cream, taking in a lukewarm sip of the liquid.
A small smile appeared on my face, remembering the time Cameron tried to make me hot chocolate.
He ended up spilling it on the counter, as the brown liquid dripped on the floor.
If my dad had seen it, he would've killed Cameron and I.
But, luckily, he wasn't home at the time, and we had cleaned it up before he got home from the pub.
After Cameron and I cleaned up the mess, he handed me a cup.
I remember staring into the red mug, as chunks of unmelted cocoa powder floated on the top.
Cameron and I laughed the whole night about our ironic situation.
I had to admit, those were one of the rare days I was happy.
"What are you smiling about?" a voice spoke, interrupting my flashback.
I flinched slightly, staring up at Hunter.
He pressed his coffee to his rosy lips, taking in a good sip.
"Nothing." I lied, licking the whipped cream off my straw.
"Were you day dreaming about your boyfriend?" he teased, raising an eyebrow.
I blushed, sulking in my seat.
    "I don't have one." I said shyly.
Hunter's lips pulled into a sly grin, as he leaned closer towards the table.
"Have you ever had one?" he asked, almost whispering.
His warm, mocha coffee smelling breath trickled down my neck.
My face turned into a bright crimson color, as I twirled my drink.
    "N-no." I stuttered, embarrassed.
Hunter pulled back, leaning agaisnt his seat.
He looked genuniely shocked, as his eyes widened slightly.
"You're kidding, right?" he asked seriously.
I shook my head, letting my messy strands fall loose in my face.
"I don't believe you." he concluded.
I stared up at him with a frown.
    I wasn't lying!
Hunter's probably the closest I've ever been to a guy.
"I'm not joking." I said, staring at him intently.
Hunter looked taken aback, as he frowned.
"Have you ever went on a date?" he asked.
Was he trying to embarrass me more than I already was?
    "No." I truthfully admitted.
"Well, you've had your first kiss, right?" he paused.
When I didn't reply, he gasped slightly.
"Come on! Not even a peck?"
"No." I gritted through my teeth, turning scarlet red.
Hunter slapped his and agaisnt the table.
"Is the male population blind to not ask you out?" he muttered under his breath.
I felt my heart picking up its pace, as I bit my lip.
"Guys just don't like quiet girls, like me." I shrugged.
Hunter gave me a gentle smile, staring at me with a strange sparkle in his eyes.
    "I do." he whispered.
His eyes grew into a bright ocean color.
How did he look so effortlessly beautiful?
"I thought you liked girls like Maddi." I muttered.
Hunter's face grew pale, as he stared at me blankly.
"Y-you aren't serious, right?" he asked.
I gave him a look to signify that I was completely, and utterly, serious.
Suddenly, Hunter's eyes grew wide, as a loud laugh escaped his lips.
He clamped a hand over his mouth, sinking down in his seat from a misfit of laughter.
His eyes welled up with uncontrollable tears.
I sat up from my seat, staring at him with panicked eyes.
"H-Hunter? Are you okay?" I asked worriedly.
Hunter regained his posture, his face still red from laughter.
"I-I'm fine." he coughed, wiping a tear from his right cheek. "But, really, Hayden? Maddi? No, no. Big, no."

    Chapter 5. Truth or Dare.
I stared intently at the fire, tugging at the soft blanket on my shoulders, as if it could wrap me up any tighter. The fire crackled and popped, the flames' warmth dancing across my skin.
"Guys! We should play Truth or Dare week here!" Rachel beamed, her green eyes lighting up. The kids agreed, but i didnt say anything.
"Wait! Lexi doesn't know how to play." Luke piped up. I smiled and looked up at him, then Josh began to speak.
"Okay, so basically this is a game we play every summer. Every night we get together and everyone has to do one truth or dare. You have to do 3 truths and 4 dares. But as the week goes on the truths and dares get harder. So the beginning of the week we go easy and make it more difficult when we run out of choices." He explained, tossing another twig into the already large fire.
"That sounds interesing.." I said, thinking about how bad it must get at the end of the week.
"Okay! We should start tonight. Everyone has 3 truths and 4 dares to do. Who wants to go first?" Rachel asked.
Josh went first, being dared to put a handful of sand down his pants. He awkwardly sat back down next to Kendall.
Dalton went next, and was dared to eat 5 marshmallows at once.
Rachel took truth, and told us that she is in love with Justin Beiber (even though everyone already knew that...)
Kellen told us that he has never had a girlfriend, and he's 17.
Luke was dared to talk like a girl for the rest of the night.
Kendall told us that she used to hate Josh and now theyre "best friends".
    Then it was my turn.
I decided to take truth first. Dalton took a moment, then asked me
"What do you think of Luke?"
Luke quickly looked up at me, and then turned his focus to the fire like he didnt care. I could feel my face turn red, but I hoped nobody could see it in the dark.
    "I uh..I think hes...uhh..i dont know..He's..pretty cool I-I guess.." I stuttered. I mentally slapped myself. I look like an idiot! & I probably look like a tomato..
Dalton chuckled and looked at Luke, who was still focusing on the fire.
    Was it that bad??

    Chapter 4. Beach House
"Okay Lukey, you're first!" Dalton smirked at Luke. Everyone was standing in a semi circle on the beach. The sun was getting lower and lower by the minute. I stood next to Kellen and Josh, my arms wrapped around my stomach. I looked down at my bikini, which was black with pink polka-dots on it. My blonde hair flowed far past my shoulders.
Luke walked up to the water and cautiously put his foot in it. He turned around slowly with a blank face. His mouth opened slightly as if he was going to say something, so everyone stayed quiet, amused by his expression.
"It's friggen cold." He said, still with a blank face. Everyone chuckled at his emotion.
"You finished last, you gotta go first." Josh chuckled. Kendall wrapped her arm around Josh's bicep. Luke's face suddenly got more serious, but he quickly shook it off.
"Alright, here goes" He said, before diving into the cold water. He came up seconds later, and gasped. Everyone burst out laughing at his expression as he shook his hair.
Next, Rachel splashed into the water, willingly letting the water engluf her. She smiled triumphantly at everyone.
"Its not that bad. Luke, you're a baby." She giggled, playfully splashing him. Soon after, Dalton and Kellen were in the water. Josh slowly tried pulling Kenall in.
I couldn't help but stare at Luke. His skin was a perfect tan, the water glistening off of his abs.. There was no question that he was hot.
"Lex? Lexi! There's no need to stare." Luke chuckled. I looked up at his face, turning bright red. I tried to turn away to hide it.
"I- I wasn't staring...Its uh- the water.." I managed to say, hoping I didnt look too stupid. Luke smirked at my struggling.
"Why dont you come in then? If the water is so interesting..." He smiled.
I dipped my toe in the water, then quickly stepped back. Shivers went up my spine.
"It's too cold! I'll just chill out here for alittle while.." I said, wrapping my arms around me.
"Alright..you can either be a good little girl and get over here yourself, or I'll come get you." He smirked, completely ignoring the splashing and yelling from the rest of the kids behind him.
"Come at me!" I giggled, standing as tall as i could get. Luke suddenly came charging out of the water, straight at me.
"Luke I swear to god if you touch me-" I said, laughing nervously, stepping backwards. He didnt stop though. I spun around and tried to take a step to run, but he already had his arm around my waist.
"LUKE NO!" I squealed, as he lifted me up bridal style. I tried to kick out of his arms, but he had a tight grip around me as he walked towards the water. When he was in waist deep he smirked at me, dropping me in frigid water.

    Chapter 4
I nibbled on my turkey sandwich, as I reviewed the notes I took this morning in chemistry.
The library was pitch quiet, as usual, since I was the only one who stayed in the library during lunch hours.
I didn't see a point in eating in the lunch room, since I would sit alone, as everyone pointed and whispered things about me.
Suddenly, the chair across from me scrapped.
My eyes flickered up cautiously, as Hunter leaned agaisnt the table, giving me a sly grin.
I was still pretty flushed from our intense moment this morning.
I could still feel his hand burning on my wrists, as he pressed his body agaisnt mine, forcing me to look up at his blazing blue eyes.
Immediately, my eyes narrowed away from his.
"I was looking for you at lunch." he spoke.
I felt my palms getting sweaty, as I gulped.
"O-oh." I stuttered, still avoiding the sharp look in his eyes.
"Why do you come to the library during lunch?" he pressed.
    Because of your idiotic friends.
"I-I just need to study. I'm falling behind in my classes." I lied.
    It wasn't true, honestly.
Not that I was trying to brag, but I had a perfect 4.0 GPA.
But, I needed a good excuse to tell Hunter.
"I should join you more often. I'm not so good in chemistry, either." he smiled, taking a short glance at my notes.
I twisted my lips, sighing in defeat.
"Yeah, you should." I muttered, trying not to sound too sarcastic.
Suddenly, his hand came in contact with my cheeks, brushing a loose strand of hair behind my ears.
"Why do you put your hair up all the time?" he said, gesturing towards my messy bun.
I swallowed, as I I blushed from insecurity.
"I-I didn't mean it like that!" he suddenly defended, noticing my flushed face.
I bit my lip, as I shook my head. "No, don't apologize. I understand."
Hunter shook his dark hair out of his face, smacking himself on the forehead.
"What I meant was," he paused, "you have really nice hair. I'm just curious to see what it would look like if it was down."
    That didn't help, at all.
I could feel my cheeks becoming into an unpleasant shade of scarlet red.
Hunter groaned. "I should shut up now, shouldn't I?"
A small smile appeared from my face, as I bit my lip down to avoiding it from spreading wider.
    "Yeah." I softly spoke.
Hunter's rosy lips curved, as his eyes began to light up.
The warning bell suddenly rang, as my eyes glanced towards the clock.
I began to gather all of my stuff, pushing myself off the chair.
"Are you going to class now? Do you want me to walk you?" Hunter offered.
I shook my head. "No, thanks."
Hunter frowned, as his eyebrows furrowed together in disappointment.
The class bell started to ring, as I began to speed walk out of the library.
My next English class was two floors up from here!
"I've got to go." I muttered, as I brushed by Hunter swiftly.
Hunter held my wrists, as he turned me around.
A familiar burning sensation shot up my spine, as my cheeks turned bright red.
"Do you think we could hang out after school today?" he smoothly asked.
I tensed, as my shoulders went stiff and square.
    "M-maybe." I stuttered.
Hunter gave me a small smile, before releasing my arm.
"I'll wait for you out at the parking lot." he said.
I hesitantly nodded, as I began to sprint to class.
I weaved my way through a crowd of people, as they all turned and gave me dirty looks.
As I took a seat in English just in time, the teacher began her lesson for the day.
Midway through class, chatter began to fill the room while the teacher was out printing worksheets.
A few girls who I recognized stormed up to my desk, placing their manicured nails flat out.
"Hi, Hayden, right?" a fiery red head asked.
I stared up at her, trying to hide my fear, as I nodded weakly.
She snickered, tossing her hair over her shoulder.
She smiled, as her over glossed lips stretched across her face into a fake, and painful smile.
"Nice you meet you, I'm Maddi. So, we were all just wondering," she pointed to her two followers behind her. "What were you doing with Hunter this morning?"
I stared at her blankly, before giving her a slight shrug.
I saw her icy blue eyes twitch, as they became full of envy and rage.
"Well, whatever it was, I want you to stay away from him. Or, you'll pay the consequences, okay?"
I removed eye contact with her, as I sulked down in my seat.
The teacher returned, as she urged the girls to go back to their seats.
Maddi threw me a smirk, before sitting down with firm posture in her seat.

    hauntingly beautiful
    Chapter 4
"You can drop me off here." I whispered.
Hunter gently pressed on the break, as we pulled over to the side of the empty road.
"We're a block away from school, though."
I sucked on my lower lip, trying to avoid staring into his sea blue eyes.
"People will see us, though." I paused. "Together."
Hunter threw his head back in laughter, as his he swiftly swept his black hair from his eyes.
"You're really funny, Hayden." he chuckled lightly.
I figured Hunter wasn't going to let me go, since he began to drive again.
As we pulled up to the school's parking lot, a swarm of people surrounded Hunter's parking space, waiting for his arrival.
I tried to hide my face by covering it with my curtain of hair.
I peeked up, as I saw people giving Hunter and I curious glances through the window.
Hunter cut off his engine, as he nudged my elbow lightly. "Come on, we're here."
I flinched at his touch, but hesitantly staggered out of the car.
I could feel people's eyes staring intently at me, as I appeared out from the passenger seat.
"What was she doing in Hunter's car?" an envious red head asked, srunching her nose in disgust as I walked by her.
Hunter suddenly appeared over my shoulder, giving me a pitiful smile. "Ignore them, okay?"
As if I haven't been for the past year at this school already.
"You should stop following me, Hunter." I muttered.
I didn't know how to put it in a nicer way.
Having Hunter befriending me was only going to make everyone else tease me even further.
They would all think that I'm pathetic for trying to become friends with someone so popular like him.
The bell suddenly rang, as I sped up to be on time for class.
Hunter cringed, as he stopped me from walking by putting a hand on my shoulder.
I immediately shrugged him off, still not used to his touch.
"What's wrong, Hayden?" he softly asked, taking a step closer to me.
Everyone was no longer in the halls, as Hunter trapped me in a corner.
"Nothing." I breathed heavily, trying to think of a way to escape his closure towards me.
He was hovering over me, as his chest barely touched mine.
He was so close to me, too close for my liking.
I guess it was entirely his fault, since he didn't know about my past.
If he did, I was sure he would back off immediately, but he didn't.
Hunter's warm fingers brushed the strands of hair from my face, tucking it behind my ear.
"If anything is bothering you, you can tell me." he said, as his cool breath trickled down my neck.
I shivered, as I remained quiet.
"Is it my friends? Are they bothering you? I could tell them to lay off." he spoke.
    I shook my head.
Hunter telling his friends to stop irritating me would only make things worst, guarenteed.
"What is it, Hayden? You're killing me here." he said, sounding desperate.
I closed my eyes, biting on my lip nervously.
"C-could you please get off of me?" I begged.
I felt Hunter's body heat being removed, as my eyes peered open.
Hunter was standing a good feet away from me, frowning.
"T-thanks." I stuttered, quickling scramming to class before he confronted me with anymore questions.
    Hunter's Point of View
I watched Hayden as she ran down the hall frantically.
Her long brown hair swooshed behind her, as she disappeared in the halls.
I leaned agaisnt the wall, taking in a deep breath.
I licked my lips, pressing my hand agaisnt my forehead.
There was something so mysterious about her.
It was as if she had a dark secret that she wasn't willing to tell anyone.
    It was almost hauntingly beautiful.
A small smirk appeared across my lips, as I removed myself off the wall.
I was going to find out Hayden's secret, no matter what.

How to Make a Girl Fall in Love
    Chapter 4. Beach House
I pulled my bags out of the trunk and dragged them into the house. Kendall's red porsche was sitting in the driveway closer to the house, so they must already be in there. Dalton flew past me, his bag on his head, screaming, "FIRST ONE IN GETS THE BEST BED!"
I giggled and ran after him, Luke following behind me.
    ....
The house was so pretty. The outside had tons of flowers around it, surrounding the stone path to the front steps. We ran inside, the light blue walls blurring around me as I ran through the house, looking for a good room. I followed closely behind Dalton, who dashed into a room and flung his bag onto a bed, then jumping on top of it.
"MINE!!" He yelled as Luke stopped behind me, breathing heavily.
"Dalton you're such a kid." I giggled, walking down the hallway looking for another room. I looked in a room to the left to see 2 bags sitting on 2 beds in another room, which i assumed was Kendall and Josh.
"Over here Lex!" Luke said, looking into a room farther down the hallway.
I walked over to him and peered into the room we stood in front of. It was a medium sized room with 2 beds in it.
I quickly walked in and put my bag on a bed.
"MINE!" I laughed, mimiking Dalton's voice. Luke walked in and put his bag on the other bed.
"Guess we're sharing then." He winked at me before walking out of the room. I rolled my eyes when he looked away and followed behind him.
All of the kids were sitting in the kitchen, putting food in cabinets and the fridge. Bags of chips, soda and different snacks were littered across the granite tabletop.
"So what are we gonna do?" Josh asked eagerly.
"I say we just get unpacked, and maybe go swim when it gets darker." I piped up. Everyone nodded in agreement.
"Okay, lets see who can unpack the fastest. Last one to finish jumps in the water first!" Josh said. "ONETWOTHREEGO!" And everyone dashed to their rooms. I raced Luke to our room. Since I was a fast runner, I slipped past him in the hallway and into the room, shutting the door behind me. I pushed his bag on the floor when he ran in, and then began unpacking my own bag. Actually, it wasnt even unpacking. I picked up handfuls of clothes and stuffed them into the dresser and closet. Within 2 minutes I was done 'unpacking'. I looked over at Luke, who was quickly putting folded clothes into his dresser. I giggled and ran into the kitchen yelling "DONE!!".
I sat at the table and munched on some chips until someone else came out. Dalton was done after me, then Kendall and Josh, then Kellen, and last- Luke.

    Chapter 3
I trailed my lean fingers against the blue frame, which held a picture of my brother.
Cameron was so young and innocent.
The picture in the frame was the only one I had of him; it was his sixth grade school picture.
I remember him asking me to help him tousle his brown hair that morning.
Cameron's eye catching smile lit up the picture, as his brown eyes sparkled against the blue backdrop.
Why did Cameron have to be the one to go?
    Why not me?
"Hayden?" a soft voice called from the outside of my bedroom door.
I immediately shoved the picture fram back into my bottom drawer, under my piles of shirts.
I sat casually against my soft pillow, flipping a book to a random page.
My oak bedroom door suddenly swept open, as my adoptive mother, Ruth, leaned against the doorframe.
Her rosy pink lips spread into a grin, as she eyed the book in my hand.
"You're a fan of Shakespeare, too?" she asked.
    I wasn't, to be honest.
Romeo and Juliet was the closet thing near me to flip open to.
But, I nodded, afraid of hurting her feelings.
She laughed lightly. "Well, are you ready for school?"
"Yes." I said, gesturing to my book bag, which was zipped and packed on the floor.
"Well, you should start heading out now. A friend of yours is waiting outside." she squealed.
Romeo and Juliet fell from my hands, as a frown plastered across my face.
    A friend?
    I didn't have any friends.
    "Who?" I asked cautiously.
Ruth's perfectly plucked eyebrows furrowed together in concentration.
"Why, I'm not sure. I forgot to ask!" she cried. "But, it's a boy."
I hopped off of my bed, as I made my way over towards the windows.
I peeked outside of my curtains, as my eyes widened at the sight.
Hunter was leaning patiently agaisnt his black BMW, twirling his car keys with his index finger.
    What was Hunter doing here?
I don't remember requesting for a car ride to school.
"Do you recognize the boy?" Ruth asked, speaking over my shoulder.
    I gulped, as I nodded.
Ruth smiled, as she patted my back gently. "Well, you should get going! You don't want to keep a fine boy like him waiting for too long!"
She handed me my book bag, as I opened my mouth to argue.
Before I could even say a word, Ruth's hand was lightly pulling mine down the stairs.
"Have a great day at school, honey!" she beamed, sending me out the front door.
I staggered on the front steps, as Ruth closed the door on me.
I squeezed my eyes tightly, as I turned around.
Facing me was an amused Hunter, getting up from the hood of his car.
"Is Sleeping Beauty finally awake?" he smiled.
I nodded, as he opened the passanger door for me.
As soon as he slid in the drivers seat, he turned to me with a frown across his perfect face.
"How come you never speak to me?"
I stared at my fingers, as I began to nervously play with them.
I didn't want him to get the wrong impression of me.
    "Sorry." I whispered.
From the corner of my eyes, I could see his red lips twitching upwards.
I almost smiled myself when I saw that it had reached his beautiful blue eyes.
"That's better." he paused. "You should talk more. Your voice is beautiful."

    NEVER LOOK BACK
    CHP.16
“Adrian? Adrian? Where are you?” I shouted as I stumbled down the brick hallway, feeling lonely.
    It smelled stale and musty.
“Where the frigg are you…” I raked the corners and corridors with my eyes, but I didn’t see him.
I slumped down to the cold, hard ground tired of my search.
A figure emerged out of the shadows and began to walk towards me, it looked like Adrian…
“Adrian! Finally, I’ve been looking everywhere for you…” I trailed off because the person’s face became clearer.
He looked about my age, maybe younger. “I don’t know who this Adrian kid is, but he sounds like a pretty lucky guy to know you. “ He winked and stuck out his hand. “I’m Ben, please to meet you, beautiful.”
I didn’t reach for his hand, he dropped it slowly. The boy screamed tool with the muscle shirt with his biceps nicely formed and tight butt jeans. He had perfect brown hair, neatly swept across his flawless skin. “Thanks for attempting to get in my pants, but no, it won’t work on me.” I smirked at his face.
I started to walk away to the back stage.
I felt his freezing hand pull me back. “Nobody denies me my fun.” His hot breath passed over my neck.
I froze in place, not being able to move.
“Get your hand off of me,” I tensed.
He was much stronger and pinned me against the wall. “I’m good, Red.”
My legs kicked, attempting to throw him off me… He laughed at me. It was hopeless, he was too strong. “Damn, you have a great body,” his hands roamed free, touching everywhere, feeling everything.
I threw my head forward and glared at him, threatening him with my eyes. “Get off me now,” I snarled.
He laughed in my face. “Baby, it has only just begun,” he reached for the button on my skin tight blue sequin jeans.
I closed my eyes tight, preparing to try to get him off me one last time.
I never got the chance, a breeze flowed through me and the weight of Ben’s body was off me.
On the floor was Ben lying face down. Adrian was stooped over him, punching him one last time.
I was breathless. “You… y-you saved me…” I stuttered out my words, coming to my senses.
“I went to go get water, my throat was completely dry and coming back I see this pathetic being all over your body,” he looked with disgust on Ben. Adrian kicked him once more, for good measure. “Are you okay?” He asked me.
“Yeah, yeah I’ll be fine.” I said, frazzled, my hair was a mess and I felt dirty inside.
Adrian pushed a lock of hair out of my face and gazed at me with his emerald eyes. “You’re strong, I know you will be.”
My breathing caught in my throat as he continued to look at me stroking my red hair.
His lips were centimeters away from mine; I could almost taste the mint from his mouth.
My heartbeat picked up, you could hear it in the quiet hallway.
There, in that very moment, he kissed me.
I don’t think you can even describe it as a kiss because it was so much more…
The feeling of his lips warmed my whole body, like a soothing cup of coffee in my bare palms.
From head to toe, I was bathed in the fire of his kiss.
The sensation broke when he tore his sweet lips away from my lonely ones.
“I can’t do this, Jade. I don’t even know what I was thinking…” He whispered, running away from me, leaving me.
The feeling of the kiss still lingered on my lips, but his presence flew away from me…
It would never stay because Adrian always did what he did best.
    He ran.
