A Deadly Kiss
Chapter 1
It was quiet in class, I usually excelled in English; shouting out the answers and getting praise from the teacher was expected from me but today I decided not to. I do this thing where I take a step back and stay silent to see what it would be like without me. Of this period of chill time was not long enough.
‘SAPPHIRA, PSST, SAPPH’ whispered Matt.
He was my closest friend. I met him at the start of 4thgrade – when I lost my favourite doll for show and tell and he was the only person to help me find it. Ever since then we stuck like glue; we just clicked you know? Matt is the only person who can crack a smile on my face for no particular reason and the amount of inside jokes we share reach infinity and beyond.
Matt always makes me feel so plain, not by the way he treats me but the way he looks. He has hazel eyes that captivate you within a single glance, a devilish smile and auburn hair which he runs through with his fingers whenever he tries to seduce a girl which often makes them go weak by the knees. He is well built as well; he must be as he is part of the football team and is a well known quarterback. I however have dirty blonde hair that reaches a little more than mid way on my back (which I usually shove into a messy bun), clear skin and sapphire blue eyes – hence the name ‘Sapphira’. Matt says my eyes are amazing and my best feature which gives me some hope.
‘SAPPHIRA BXXCH’ he almost shouts, and when I turn around he grins and reminds me that I am walking home with him. I stick my finger up light heartedly and say
'Sure thing Captain Obvious' since he has reminded me this for the umpteenth time. He can be so organised yet relaxed something I fail to do. Secretly I am excited, something about Matt ever since 8th grade made me think of him 24/7, but I never expose this, if I ever lose his friendship I'll regret it. He’s a great entertainer, flirter and listener When he listens to me I know he actually listens to me because his eyes fill with curiosity and understanding.
Before I know it the bell has rang and the group hang out with form small herd near the gateway of the school, and there waiting for me with his effortlessly good looks and eyes that make my heart do several cartwheels, is the boy I love. Matt ..
