He paused for a moment as the waitress asked if we wanted anything to drink. Chris and I declined politely while Harrison said nothing, earning a dirty look from her. As soon as she left, Harrison continued. "The night she was reported missing, a witness came forward and said that he saw her leave a hotel in New York. However, she was leaving the room of Carl Morris." Harrison paued for effect, giving Chris a chance to talk. "Laila, do you remember the first assignment you were offered? It was from Carl Morris." I remember this man very well. Morris is a religous radical. He was known for his extreme views and for wanting to annihalite every other religon except for his spiritual beliefs of reincarnation and preserving everything in the environment. Morris, 67 years old, loves young women. Not prostitutes, but rich women high up in society. He pays them after they leave his room and they put in a good word for Morris. It's almost as if nothing had happened. Morris tried to hire me and Chris to kill a friend of his, no reason given. Chris denied for us, thinking it was wrong. "I remember him, Chris," I said, turning to face Harrison, "Creepy old guy. I've done my research. He's a morphine addict, too."

At the table sat a man that looked like he was in his late forties. Salt-and-pepper hair, but brilliant blue eyes that told a story. What the story was about, I had no clue. But it was a dark one. He stood up and shook both of our hands. Chris said, "Good morning, Mr. Harrison. I am Christopher Stevens, and this is my partner, Laila Mohamed. You contacted us because you're in need of our services?" Harrison indicated for us to sit down. "Good morning to you as well," he started, "I have come to Augusta because I heard about two assassins who do their job very well - or so my sources say. I've come to offer you an assignment for four million dollars, each." Before he could say anything else, I interuppted him. "Excuse me, sir, I don't mean to be rude, but we don't do just any job. Chris and I do jobs that we believe would benefit the society. Not your typical he-ran-over-my-dog-therefore-he-deserves-to-die kind of stuff." He looked at us, interest suddenly in his eyes. "Well," Harrison said, "I should probably explain myself. My name is Judge Harrison. I am, well, was, an undercover CIA agent. I worked with them for 18 years. However, age has taken it's toll on me, so I retired, but, instead of just sitting around, I work as a cop. I was recently given a murder case on a 28 year old woman, Adele Anderson. Her body was found on the short of Lake Lanier."

After a shower, I pondered on how I should fix my hair; looks are everything with this job. Clients think Chris and I are too young for such a delicate thing, but when they see our work, they don't question it. Chris walked in behind me. "Put it up in a bun; you'll look more professional," he commented. I nodded, fixing my hair, and looked down at my outfit. It would have to do: jeans, boots, and a simple but somewhat dressy white shirt. I followed Chris down to the garage and he climbed into the drivers seat of the deep blue BMW my parents gave me for my 21st birthday, a year ago, and my and Chris' 2 year anniversary. "Well," I said, "Are you ready? We don't want to keep Mr. Client waiting, now do we?"

Chris and I walked into the doors of Augustinos, an upbeat formal restuarant in downtown Augusta. We gave the waitress out names and she led us to a table set for three overlooking the Savannah River. Although the view was very peaceful, I couldnt help feeling like something bad was going to happen.

"Laila, c'mon, wake up! Today's an important day! Look, I even made breakfast for us!" I groaned and opened my eyes to the familiar face of my boyfriend. I used to think that us living together would be a bad thing, but it may be one of the best things that's happened to me. "Chriss, it's only 10 o'clock! Gah! close them!" I moaned, sitting up. I looked over at him as he was opening the drapes in my room, his dark hair shining. He was dressed casually, wearing a green collared shirt and some khakis. "Well," he grinned, "Would you rather have Blaze and I play our trombones? I'm sure we could arrange that."
"Don't get mad at me when my sleep deprived self punches you in the face," I replied back to his sarcastic remark. His grin grew even wider as he said, "No, you won't. You love me too much. Now, hurry up; I lied. I didn't make breakfast, but we have a client waiting downtown. I'm sure he has some food waiting for us. And then, afterwards, Blaze and I need to practice." I got out of bed, more alert now that I knew we had a client waiting. Chris waiting downstairs while I got ready in the bathroom.

He shoved his hands further down into his coat pockets and tried to walk faster. He had walked down this path many times before; no one bothered him. He needed time to think. "Not so fast," the man said, his grey eyes filled with no remorse. The man pulled Blaze back and pulled out a knife. "Do what I say or else I'll kill you. If you don't care for your life, I'll make sure that the girl dies."
"Laila," Blaze whispered to himself.
"Oh yes, your dear Laila. She isn't even yours." the man sneered. "Come along. If you do your job right, she'll come running after you. She wouldn't let you die. Especially if she can prevent it." No, Blaze thought, frantically, I'm the bait. Laila can take all of them, beautiful as she was. But she wouldn't dare do anything that could potentially harm someone she loved. The search had begun.
