The Days of our Summer
CHAPTER 3
Aidan's P.O.V
After Taylor walked back to her table, I went back out to the main room to clean the waters up. Our conversation kept running through my mind. This girl, there was something about her. I needed to know more. I walked back to the kitchen.
"Order of two chocolate chip pancakes and today's special!" Rick called. Rick was the main cook at Red's. Apparently he's been working here for 50 years. That's a long time in this town-there must be something special about it.
"Got it." I scooped up the plates.
"Hey, Aidan, who was that girl in here?" Rick raised his eyebrows.
"Oh, this girl Taylor..." I trailed off, still replaying our conversation. I smiled to myself.
"And...?" Rick continued.
"Oh. Sorry. I accidently knocked her and spilled a water. I was getting her a towel."
"I know you've only been here a couple weeks Aidan but remember..."
"I know I know! It was my fault Rick I know this is a small restaurant-I'll be more careful next time I swear." Rick looked at my face, studying it for a minute.
"Alright." He smiled. "Now hurry up these are getting cold!" Rushing out to the main room, I looked over at Taylor's table. She was quietly talking with her red haired friend.
"Here's today's special for youuu." I said placing the red head's food in front of her. "And twoo chocolate chip pancakes for miss. klutzilla." Taylor laughed.
"These look delicious." Taylor said looking up at me. "Thank you, Aidan." I smiled.
"Let me know if you need anything else." I tried to pull my eyes away from her face but I couldn't. Her light bronze skin was covered in freckles on her nose and cheeks. She had the most amazing pale green eyes and full, light pink lips. Finally pulling myself away, I walked back to the kitchen. Rick sent me to empty the trash and clean the counter. I waited on a middle aged couple, and Taylor called me over for the check. "Here you go. $12.80." Taylor and her friend had already laid out the cash.
"Thank you, this was a great breakfast...maybe I'll see you around." Taylor looked up at me.
"Yeah." I didn't know what else to say. As Taylor and her friend walked out the door, I looked at the table to see a $10 tip. Way too much, I thought. I went to the kitchen to grab towels and cleaning spray. When I returned, I noticed something else on the table-a Blackberry cell phone. I wonder if it's Taylor's. When I pressed a button, it brought me to the home screen. I scrolled into the contacts and quickly typed in my number. I took the $10 tip and slipped it in the back of her case. Satisfied, I placed it down on the table. Hopefully she'll return. Just as the thought slipped my mind, the door opened again and Taylor paced over to the table.
"Forget something?" I winked.
"Maybe..." She replied with a smirk.
"You might find a new contact in there...just a heads up." I smiled. I hope she didn't think it was creepy I put my contact in. But I couldn't help it, I need to see this girl again.
"Oh, really?" Taylor scrolled through her phone. She read the contact name aloud. "Aidan Turner-that new kid i met at Red's." She laughed. "Well, I hope this isn't a fake number-maybe I should call it." She smiled. My phone started ringing.
"Hey, that's me!" I said.
"Well now you have my number." Taylor looked down. "I'll, stay in touch."
"I hope so." I replied.
"Well, I have to go, my friend's waiting. Talk to you soon, Aidan."
"Talk to you soon." I said with a smile. She left. Running back to the kitchen smiling like crazy, I got a couple strange looks from the cooks. Rick looked over.
"The boy's found a girl." Rick said turning around. I've found a girl in this town. Maybe this place isn't so bad. I thought.
