the different side
Chapter 32
Two Years Later:
"Adam, can you put this box in my trunk?" I asked, handing Adam a box full of stuff I needed for college.
"Alright, babe." he smiled, lifting the box as if it was a feather.
Let me fill you in on what happened in the past two years.
Eric and I were madly in love. We never got bored of each other, but we knew we had to break up before college started. We both knew inside our hearts that long distance relationships would never work. So, we broke up 5 months ago, in the ending of senior year.
Don't get me wrong, I did cry, but it was for the best for both of us.
We were still friends, but we didn't talk that much. A simple wave while walking across the hallways was the only action we got.
Yes, it was killing me, since he was the first guy I ever loved. But, I had to move on eventually.
So, I found Adam at a club with Alyssa, Casey, and Garry.
We've been dating for 2 months now. Yes, I like Adam, but not love. I only love Eric, and I always will.
"Crystal, anything else?" he asked me as he came up the stairs again.
"Yeah, one last thing." I said digging through my closet.
I handed him my suitcase, containing the clothes I would need for college.
"Ah, this thing is so heavy." he whined.
"But, for me, right?" I smiled, giving him my puppy dog eyes.
"Of course." he winked, and carried my suitcase downstairs to my car.
I looked in the back of my closet, just in case I was forgetting something.
That's when I saw it. I saw the light pink scale I use to weigh myself with when I was anorexic.
I took in a deep breath, and stepped on the scale.
0 lbs. The scale was definitely broken.
I tossed the broken scale at the back of my closet when I heard Adam coming up the stairs. He never knew about my secret.
While Eric, I told him everything. He told me everything, too.
"Is that it? Or should we get going?" Adam asked.
"Wait in the car. I need to say bye to my neighbors first." I said.
Yes, Eric was still my neighbor. Occasionally, when I couldn't sleep, I would throw something at his window, and we'd talk until 4 in the morning.
Adam nodded, and sat in the car to wait.
I walked over to the Chamber's house, and rang the doorbell.
Eric's mother opened the door, and she smiled.
"Oh Crystal! Hi! I haven't seen you in ages." Mrs. Chambers smiled hugging me.
"Hi Mrs. Chambers. I just came by to say goodbye." I explained.
"Bye?" she asked.
"Yeah. I'm leaving off to college." I smiled.
"Aw! Honey! Be sure to come and visit. Would you like to say goodbye to Eric?" she asked, beaming.
"Yeah." I nodded.
She went upstairs, and a moment later, Eric came down.
He looked a little bit shocked to see me, but he smiled.
"Hey." I said.
"Um, hey. Crystal, what are you doing here?" he asked in confusion.
"To say bye. I'm leaving to college." I said.
He looked a bit disappointed. "Oh, well, I'm going to miss you."
"Same here." I said, trying not to look in his eyes.
I knew if I did, I would break out crying.
"Well, I guess this is goodbye." he mumbled.
I bit my lip. "Yep. One last time."
He wrapped his arms around me the same way he did two years ago.
"Bye, Crystal. Be safe." he whispered.
"Bye, Eric." I said as a tear tell down my left eye.
He rubbed my back, and breathed, "Don't cry. You should be happy."
"I'm going to miss you." I muffled in his chest.
He pulled away, and held my left arm up.
He smiled when he saw that I was still wearing the charm bracelet he got me at homecoming.
He pecked me on the cheek, and said bye once again.
I felt a spark where his lips touched my right cheek, and I wanted to run back in his arms again, but it was too late.
Truth be told, I love Eric. I never stopped, and I never will.
He was the only person who ever sat the different side of me.
the end.
