Unbroken
Chapter 2
I ended up running to the beach, typical right. The last time I ever came here was with him. We set up a blanket under the stars and just sat there. We didn't even talk. We both knew it was coming the day he would have to leave Miami, and go back to Indianna. I didn't even think about that when I first fell in love with him. All I knew was that I wanted it to me and him forever, just the two of us. I lay on the beach the entire night. At around 4 in the morning, I went home. My Mom was asleep and my Dad wasn't even home as usual. He was either at one of 2 places. The bar or my Grandmother's house. My Grammy was dying of cancer, and my Dad needed to be there to take care of her. He and my Mom's relationship was rocky. I was the one usually cooking dinner, so most nights we either had cereal or Easy Mac and Cheese. My little brother Bret was your typical nudge. He lived to annoy me, but I loved him. I had to be there for him when Mom and Dad weren't, which was most of time. I tried my best for my family, but sometimes I felt my best wasn't good enough. When I met Lance, I knew things were going to change. After he met my Mom, I knew he was the one. He was so kind to my brother, and my Mom loved him from the start. My Dad never got the chance to meet him, but they reminded me of eachother. Hardworking, headstrong, and forgetful, most definittley forgetful.
I raced up the steps and into bed. I slept in his sweatshirt. It was faded navy blue with a rip on the side pocket. I remember the night he first gave it to me...
