❝Your muscles have a certain memory about them. That’s why we can tie our own shoes or play piano without looking. But when you spend a long enough time with someone your bodies memorize each other you know? The warmth of your back, the pace of your heartbeat, your tickly eyelashes. And the way your fingers would curl in sequence when I used to play with your palm. Another person is like moving to a new country where you don’t know the language. It’s a scary thing.

So I have a couple of things on my mind to say right now...
As some of you know, Steve blocked quotes tagged as suicide/self harm/depression from showing up on the newest quotes page. I think he's stopped that now because of a bunch of selfish b//tches complaining, but this is what he had to say about it at first:
"Some of you have noticed that some negative quotes no longer show in the top quotes and new quotes feeds. This change was done intentionally by me for two reasons: 1) a study cited in a book I read, mentioned that when mass media publicizes a suicide, it leads to more suicides among people who can relate to the person who committed suicide. 2) When I asked why people continue to visit Witty Profiles, many mentioned it was for the funny quotes. Some mentioned specifically that they don't like reading the depressing quotes when they've come to Witty for funny quotes. The bug that I need to fix will allow users to browse through these negative quotes if they've gone out of their way to do so. I just don't want to promote these quotes and have Witty be part of a downward spiral for someone. I hope this makes sense."
I just don't understand WHY people are complaining about it though. Firstly, Witty is a website for FUNNY AND INSPIRATIONAL QUOTES ONLY. It has always been like that and it will always be like that. It's not your diary. I've been yelled at by people because I support what Steve did, which I don't understand. I'm a recovering self harmer and I come to Witty to find things to cheer me up and motivate me. I don't want to suddenly come across quotes glamorising self harm and depression, because I, and a lot of other people, get triggered by that. Yes, you have freedom of speech etc etc. Yes, you can express yourself any way you like. But Witty is just NOT the place for that. Try websites like Tumblr, Twitter, thequietplaceproject.com, places like that where you can vent however you like and it's less likely to be seen by people who are easily triggered. Or keep a real diary yourself. OR, if you really are so passionate and determined to post it here, make a sort of story or poem out of it that isn't going to trigger people, but will help them feel better. Yeah, I know it's hard. But it's also hard for me seeing things like "I love the pain of cutting myself every night" and "People who commit suicide are beautiful" when I'm trying to get over that stuff myself. Please. Just use this website the way it's meant to be used.

    Time is free,
    but it is priceless.
    You cannot own it,
    but you can use it.
    You cannot keep it,
    but you can spend it.
And once you have lost it,
you can never get it back.

You think that everything would be
    better without you, correct?
    You’re utterly convinced that no
    one needs you, right?
Right now, I want you to go to
    your special hiding place and
    get your knife, your blade,
    your lighter; whatever tool
    you’ve spent countless nights
    battling, turning to for some
type of comfort. Now, I want you
to hold that tool. I want you to
feel the weight of it within
    your palm. Feel the coldness
    against your warm skin.
    Now, picture this:
your mother, going to your room
to wake you up, only to find your
    corpse on the ground, surrounded
    by your own blood.
    Can you hear it now?
    The shrieks of terrors,
    the uncontrollably sobbing.
    Can you hear it now?
    Then, your father comes running
to your room, finding your mother,
    his wife, clutching your limp
    body (his precious baby); screaming
    to the heavens, desperately wishing
that she would just wake up from this nightmare.
He runs to her, pulling her away
    from your body, shielding her
away from the horror. He bites his tongue,
    holding back the sobs.
    An hour later, they’ve collected
the body and your mother hasn’t
moved from the couch, blankly staring
into space; still waiting, hoping, praying
that she’ll wake up from this nightmare.
Your farther is in the other room,
    sobbing silently; the same man
who you never once saw cry,
    broken down.
Still believe your life means nothing?
Now picture your sibling, your sister, your brother,
getting called to the office; their teacher telling
them it’s an emergency. Your parents are there,
your mother is crying, your father is holding
her shaking body. Your sibling is confused, frightened.
They tell them the news, and the teacher
has to catch them before they fall
    to the ground.
It was just last night you two
    were bickering over what movie
to watch. It was just last night they
heard your laugh, saw your smile.
    It was just last night.
When they tell your best friend,
they break down; you two were
supposed to see a movie that weekend.
You two were going to get pizza; now you’re gone,
and they’re left alone to fight their own demons.
    It’s been one month.
    Your door remains closed,
no one dares to go in there.
    Your mother has shut down,
not knowing how to go on.
She cries herself to sleep every night.
Blaming herself for not telling you
    how much she loves you.
Your father goes through the motions,
but some nights, he has a little too
much whiskey, hoping to numb the
pain that seems to have settled
    on his chest.
    Your sibling has gone silent,
turning to the knife to deal
with the pain that has taken
    over them. Almost ever night,
    they break down, punching
    the ground, screaming your name
    to the heavens.
Your best friend goes out every night,
drinking to forget the ache in their chest.
Just one more glass of vodka to forget,
    even for a little while.
    And where are you?
You’re six feet under the ground,
    rotting away silently.
    While everyone you loved,
    who loved you, is continuing
    their lives—but there’s a void
in their a hearts, a space where
    you once lived in.
    Did you know that you’re
    the reason your best friend
    didn’t kill them self?
Did you know that you were
    your sibling’s best friend?
    Your parents’ pride and joy?
    The light of everyone’s lives.
    No, because you were blinded
    by your sadness; you let
    the darkness win.
    Don’t let the darkness win.
    Put the tool down, you’re
    needed elsewhere.

Witty is a quote website. A thing for inspiration and humour. Not a place to trigger people with talk about depression or self-harm, or to argue about petty little stuff. Yeah, you're obviously allowed your own opinion and free speech and all that, nobody's stopping you. But that shizoozle just isn't meant for /this particular website./
... And yes I know I'm being hypocritical but at least I delete most of my ranty quotes instead of trying to cause drama with them ...

omg im so done with this website.
people spout off opinions thinking they're so smart when they really haven't got a clue what they're saying and then they don't want to deal with the consequences of posting your thoughts on the internet (ill admit im guilty of this too)
so many of you are so, so immature its not even funny theres a reason this website has an age limit.
and NOW?! now you guys are complaining about steve hiding depression/suicide/self harm quotes when that is one of the best things he could have done for this website.
this isnt your diary. if you're actually suffering from those problems you need to be getting REAL help, not looking for attention on the internet. that was never the point of this website and people abusing this website for things like that are ruining it.
don't tell me this is the only way you can get help.
people were able to get help for these problems before the internet existed, so why can't you now?
and, if you're really THAT against getting help in the real world you are so much better off on tumblr where there are countless blogs dedicated to helping with these exact issues.
stop complaining on a quote website. you have no reason to be upset over these quotes being blocked.
im so done. my computer is broken anyway so i cant make quotes and respond to comments easily but this is just the cherry on top i may take a break for a bit.

I honestly cannot stand it when people say "everyone is beautiful".
    No.
    Stop.
    Don't do that.
Not everyone is physically beautiful, okay? If you really go around saying that, you're aiding this societal idea that a person is only worth something if they are aesthetically pleasing.
    Guess what?
People who aren't physically attractive are wonderful, spectacular people in so many different ways aside from that. Those are the things we should be paying attention to and complimenting everyone on because it means so much more because it's genuine. Because they know you actually mean it and that you are looking at them past their outward appearance. If you all actually believed that it's what's on the inside that counts, you wouldn't be going around saying everybody is beautiful.
