The Summer of My Life
Chapter Seven
It was like a dream. I kept pinching myself
on the car ride home thinking I was dreaming.
That night I laid in my bed. I was exhausted, but I couldn’t stop
thinking about him. His name, his smile,
his laugh, everything was glued to my
brain. When
I woke up in the morning the house
was quiet. That was rare, Sheela was usually talking
on the phone with guys, and blasting her
music. But this morning, I heard nothing but my own breaths. I groped for my glasses on the table, and put them on. I walked out of
the room,
and looked out the window, there was Sheela running around on the beach with two guys. They both were
carrying surfboards. Then one turned around. I felt as if I couldn’t breath, it was him, Spencer, with his brother,
on the beach in front of me. I didn’t know what to do. I starred then suddenly Spencer
turned around and looked at me. I panicked and crouched below the window knocking over stuff off the table.
I peeked up and he was smiling at me laughing, his white teeth sparkling. I started laughing to. The first time I laughed
during this trip. I wanted a reason to go down there and talk to him. But I needed a reason. I glanced on the
kitchen table and saw the glasses he
let me use.
I ran into the bathroom, and washed
my face, and fixed my blonde wavy hair. I grabbed the
glasses and walked down onto the
beach. When he turned around our eyes met, and locked. I was walking off the last step that led onto the
beach, when I stumbled over my feet and fell face first into the hot sand. Spencer ran over and helped me
up. “You just keep falling don’t you?” he smiled. “I’m not very coordinated.” I smiled. I looked down at the glasses, and saw the lens, they were shattered. “Oh my
Gosh, I am so sorry.” “He smiled “it’s fine.” For a split second we starred, and then he broke the silence. “wanna come swim with us?”
I thought about it.
I couldn’t say I couldn’t swim. But before I could even think the word yes, rolled out of my mouth. Before I knew it I was walking back up to the beach house to go change into a bathing suit.
