Backgrounds:

And do you see the bolded thing? You can change that to a different color by typing in something else. The color codes are right here on this website: http://www.w3schools.com/html/html_colornames.asp In the column that says "HEX", you want to copy THAT in. For example, if I wanted to have: 'Aqua' as my background color, then I would replace the 'black' with the code: #00FFFF. And you can do that with others too. :) OR, you could just type in the name of the color... like, if I wanted aqua, I could just type in 'aqua'.
Shadows:
<span style="text-shadow: 1px 3px 9px black;">
Shadows will look like: this. See the shadowy pink behind? That's because I added a shadow.
Same thing as for the backgrounds, you can change the bolded color with a code. :) And, if you don't like how the shadow is, expiriment with the numbers. See the 1px 3px 9px? You can change that and make where the shadow is look different. :) YAY!
Borders:

<div style="border: dotted 5px red;">
<div style="border: solid 5px red;">
You can experiment with the 5px here too. That just says how thick it will be. Also, see how it says 'dashed' 'dotted' and 'solid'? That's because that's how it will turn out. Again, you can change the bolded to a different color.
