Honestly, I have never ever ever in my life had a best friend. So, here goes... Life is all about gaining and losing. Gaining and losing friends, enemies, lovers, everything. I also strongly believe everything happens for a reason. I know a year feels like forever, but it really isn't. If your old best friend thinks that what she's doing is cool and you know better than that, it's not worth it. Sure, you can try to change her mind, but she has made up her mind. If she wants to be like that, that is her decision. Her life. You can't change that. The only life you can control is your own, so you need to make it the best life ever. You have new friends. Yeah, it's gonna feel different. But you need to surround yourself with people that will improve your life. If your friend is into things you know aren't good, you shouldn't try to get her back as a friend. She's moved on and so should you. In the end, you'll end up better off. You know what's right and wrong and if she doesn't, thats her problem. Surround yourself with the people you think you should. You obviously have good judgement, so I know you can figure that out. On the other hand, you don't know what you old best friend is thinking. She could hate what she has become. She could miss you just as much as you miss her and she just isn't showing it. If I were in your position, I would send her a text, facebook message, email, note, or say it to her face... whatever. Just let her know how you feel. Then, its her decision. If she doesn't want to be friends, fine. You have other friends and I know you'll be fine. If she does want to be friends, you have to make sure she doesn't change you for the worst.
