Enchanted
Part 1
She glanced at me, from across the ballroom. A sea of dancing figures stretched out between us. We gazed at each other, her striking blue eyes making my heart race. Her eyes curiously danced down my body, observing me. I took the opportunity to observe her right back. Her dark hair fell elegantly down her back in silky waves. She had beautiful features; high cheekbones and pale pink lips. Her dress was a lush periwinkle color that complimented her eyes.
Dear God, her eyes.
I found myself hopelessly lost in her gaze.
Suddenly an elbow nudged me and I was pitched back into reality. I blinked as blinding colors and the rush of sound were swept back over me. I became aware of the dancing people around me and the sound of laughter. Looking over, I saw my best friend, Brayden, grinning mischieviously.
"Caught sight of the glamorous Lady Kaisa, have we? he asked playfully.
His eyes danced in glee.
Kaisa, so that was her name.
I sighed, wondering how Brayden knew almost everything, before I even suspected it. Deciding to take this as an advantage, I asked a casual question.
"And who, please enlighten me, is her father?"
Its was always nice to know a lady's father before making a move on her. Brayden raised his eyebrows and his mouth stretched in a smirk.
"Ah, that would be the infamous Lord Thorn" he answered solemnly.
My eyes widened in disbelief. Brayden nodded in agreement as the realization hit me.
"Sorry, Ash, you've clearly made a poor choice. Even I wouldn't go for a girl with an insanely discriminating pig for a father"
He gestured to the grand decor around us.
"Come on, lets wreak havoc eleswhere"
He spun on his heel, and slipped away, clearly expected me to follow. I didnt.
Instead I searched the ballroom for Kaisa. My wandering gaze found her mingling in a group of young ladies. The sight of her made me sigh in dissapointment.
Lord Thorn? he was basically disliked among court, but had so much power and authority that no one counld do anything about it. Not only that, but he frowned upon all the ranks below him, with menacing hate. People who, in his corrupted mind, were dirt on the bottom of his polished shoes. People like me. Oh, what was I to do?
