“Broken Wings”

She's good at camouflaging herself,

in the wilderness that is school.

She hides behind long sleeves, band bracelets,

and a convincing smile that fools.

Her wings are broken, she cannot fly,

she's lost her in own crazy mind.

Like her brain has flipped a switched to 'off',

she can't feel her bruises at all.

She's broken into a million pieces,

a puzzle whose pieces won't fit.

They keep telling her she needs help,

but therapy will make it worse.

She is shattered,

made of glass.

Her demons are winning,

she feels already dead.
