you promised not to lie

you promised me forever

& looked me in the eye.

You promised you wouldn't mess up

you promised you would try

you promised no more games

& still made me cry.

You promised not to give up on me 

you promised not to let me go

you promised not to cheat

& yet you still broke me.

You promised not to break my heart

you promised not to let me fall

you promised to be there for me

& I was still left alone.

You promised I could trust you

you promised you were different

you promised not to use me

& I'm still asking why.

You promised a lot of things,

but so did I... I promised not to hurt you I promised not to lie I promised you forever & looked you in the eye. I promised not to mess up I promised I would try I promised not to play games & not once did I make you cry. I promised not to give up on you I promised not to let you go I promised not to cheat & not once did I break you. I promised not to break your heart I promised not to let you fall I promised to be there for you & not once did I miss your call. I promised you could trust me I promised I was different I promised not to use you & not once did I lie.

I promised and I'm keeping my promises. You might of broken yours and you might of broken me, but it's good to know that one of us still cares because simply I promised.
