The 8th Grade

i like to see how things have changed.
what i've lost and what i've gained.
who i've met and who i've lost.
and the points i could never get across.
how things used to make me laugh.
and the long unforgettable path.
when at 14, i thought i knew what love is.
but no one could keep their promises.
the stupid fights that got in the way.
and the way we lived everyday.
its nice to see people move on.
but we all know that none of their memory is gone.
lots of photographs and long walks.
we'd escape to the bathroom just to talk.
that one dance that we'll never forget.
and all the texts we'll eventually regret.
those long emotional notes.
and our hearts caught in our throats.
its funny how our memories fade,
after we all leave the 8th grade.
