She played in the corners
Those of black labeled death
Picking her nails to bloody
Pulling her hair from its roots
Until she forgot why
Lily preferred to hide…
When it rained
She cowered in the basement
Embracing solitude
Beneath weighted beams
As the darkness overtook her
Lily disliked their stares…
At times, she built up enough courage
To venture outside
Usually during the night
When all was at rest
Humans made her skin crawl
Lily refused to cry…
She would listen to sorrowful songs
Read of horrific deeds
Yet shed no tear for the lives lost
Her inability to empathize
Made her undesirable to others
Lily longed to die…
In her misery she devised a plan
But left no written letter
No evidence, nor trail
Just a lost and lonely corpse
Holding an empty vile
